How often do yo get an ascending 26 year old corner with 4 years starting experience without missing a game?

One that is 6' 207 lbs with under 4.40 , 40 speed? Tackles and gets up in the air after the football. One who posts a QB rating against him of under 62%?

How often do you get a player that was the #1 overall pick, is 27, 6',6 283 lbs and can rush the passer fro the DE in a 4-3, 3-4 and OLB in a 3-4?

Rushing the passer of the 3rd best per game rate the last 5 seasons only to Demarucs Ware and Jarred Allen?

You won't see a guy like Mario Williams show up in FA entering his prime, just doesn't happen.

Believe me, this guy plays OLB on our team he can push for 15 sacks a season with Ware on the other side. He plays DE in the 3-4 and I see 8+ sacks with Ratliff next to him. In the 4-3? No problem getting 10-14.

Whatever way you want to do it with this guy we're going to get to the QB with him and it's only going to help the other increase their totals as well.

Yes, use the draft to build, but we're not getting #1 overall talent through the draft anytime soon. We can get it in FA this year though.

It's a "different time" now with the CBA. Players can be FA's after 4 years instead of 6.

That means you can sign a very good CB who is young, like Carr, to improve your team while keeping the youth.

I have no problem with Jerry signing Carr, Trufant, Hutchinson and Craig Steltz, along with resigning Holland, Fiammetta, Robinson, [Bennett], and Spencer... while cutting Kosier.

That is not my point. I am saying you can defend this logic. Signing big name free agents has rarely worked out for teams in recent years. I have already stated my support for signing Hutchinson, Carr and Williams.

The Eagles signed one big money free agent last year, and that was Nnamdi Asomugha. They signed two mid-major guys in Babin and Cullen Jenkins at around 5 mil per year. All the other "insane" signings that were hyped up by fans and media were merely scrubs at low costs, including Steve Smith, Vince Young, and Ronnie Brown. The Eagles didnt go crazy last year, they had money to spend and tried to make moves to improve their team. You dont get better by sitting on your hands, resigning scrubs (ours' and everyone elses') as we learned last year.
