I, for one, LOVED our draft!

It was a very solid draft IMHO

Jerry did well here.....listen to his scouts...coaches...etc

and its safe to assume he followed his board....

I'm really not sure what there is to be dissatisfied about. We got a phenomenal franchise tackle prospect with elite athleticism, ideal size and great character. BOOM! That's a win.

We got an athletic, fast, ballhawking linebacker with tremendous play-making potential, something we definitely need at middle linebacker. Bradie James is as solid as they come, and Brooking can still play. But in my opinion, our defense will take another step when we get legit playmakers in the middle. Sean Lee's instincts and physicality make him a perfect replacement for Brady, while Carter's speed, coverage and athleticism make him a very intriguing candidate for weakside middle linebacker --who is generally the one NOT taking on blockers and flowing to the ball. I can't wait to see Carter develop.

His knee?

Are you kidding??

It's an ACL, people. He might not be quite 100% until next year. But let's not indulge unwarranted drama. Athletes come back stronger & faster from ACL tears all the time with modern sports medicine. Long-term, his knee is not something to worry about; his athleticism is something to be excited about.

Demarco Murray. Man, this is the one I cannot understand people complaining about. We got a 1st-round talent with the potential to be a feature back in the 3rd round, and people are unhappy??

Would it have been better to take a back with less potential?

Oh, I know. It was the position, not the player. You think we should have gone safety, or whatever, even though Murray was far & away the highest rated player on their board at that point. Are you the same people who chastise Jerry for drafting for need, instead of best player available??

I'm just saying, when a player of that magnitude is sitting there that far down the draft, you take him. Period. Particularly considering Jerry specifically said they were looking for a running back out of this draft. It was obviously a priority position for those who run the team, and I suspect they see a larger portion of the pie than Joe Fan does from behind his TV.

Demarco Murray is a phenomenal talent, and was incredible value where we got him. Smile.

Don't know much about him, but Akrin seems like a legitimate prospect. Love the wideout, fullback and corner selections, as each has real potential and could find a place on this team. Center in the 7th, fine by me. Who you want there??

I'm pleased. One of the least dramatic and most solid drafts I can remember the boys putting together in some time. I like the blueprint I'm seeing. Can't wait for free-agency to begin...

Peace,

Were you not one of the happy fans, who thought the 2009 draft was just fine? how did that work out for you? as long as Jerry is doing his GM thing. he is going to screw it up. there is a reason we have one playoff win in 15 years. IT's JERRY!

Murray was a first round talent? I didn't hear or read about that, I heard he was like the 3rd or 4th best back at one point but lost some steam. I also heard on ESPN that he was mainly a receiving back and would only be complimentary, or 3rd down back kind of guy. Is that not correct? If he has feature back potential, that's a hell of pick...just haven't herd that any where.

I don't think we drafted him as a feature back. He was drafted to be the 3rd back in the rotation. This kid is more of a all purpose back. He can return kickoffs and do punt returns. Hopefully keeping Dez off of those units will lesson the load for him.

He gives us options on 3rd down and nothing wrong with being a receiving threat coming out of the backfield. Westbrook killed us for years being that type of running back. I think JG wants to be more dynamic in the running game, counters, screens and sweeps instead of just dives up the middle.

I know people here are saying Demarco is like Felix but he is a better blocker and that is a plus and a better receiver than Felix. From what I read about him he can catch the ball down the field as well as out of the back field on a screen or swing pass. Does well out in space not so well when not in space. Isn't as injury prone as some will have you believe either. Heck I thought he was a walking M*A*S*H unit till I heard him say he missed four games in four years. He's not been drafted to be an every down back because Dallas doesn't roll like that anymore! Speaking of Westbrook, I used to hate facing that guy twice or three times a year. Always wished he were a Cowboy or that we had a similar version of him. He killed us plain and simple. Hopefully Demarco will have a great effect on the Westbrook less Eagles and all the other enemy teams we will be facing after he acclimates to the NFL game and perhaps learns to run lower and take good care of his body.

In the end, this draft class will prove itself to be very good. We got good value at most every pick. Free agency will fill out our remaining glaring needs. Plus, this draft class will allow us to cut some dead weight.

This is coming from a "non" OU fan, but a fan of the Big 12 in general and have watched DeMarco play his entire career.

I see him as "Sammy Morris" type with speed. A jack of all trades type back. Yes he's had injuries. What people forget about him though is the fact he has played through a lot of those. He's as tough as they come.

In fact, yes he was injured and couldn't go, but in the NC game if he could have gone I believe they would have won that game. He's a difference maker.

I love it. He's another weapon for Romo. Add in some decent blocking and you have yourself an offense that was hard to containt with even Kitna at the helm.

This draft has absolutely zero in common with that '09 draft.

This draft was stronger, we picked a top 10 player and one early in the second as opposed to trading back and not taking a player until round 3.

In 2009 we took a project LB from a tiny school, while this year we took a 4 years starting LB from a big school.

No trades this year as opposed to about 100 in the '09 draft.

Not to mention that every guy is a high-motor, character player who loves to compete. That alone makes this draft light years from '09.

This draft was solid from top to bottom. Heck, even the day 3 picks were getting praise from guys like Goose.

Bottom line is, if someone doesn't overall like this draft, I have serious questions about either their motives or their football sense.

I just wonder, with all the hate you have for Jerry, how you can balance that against your love for the team. It must be agonizing for you to have that conflict all the time.

I was just wondering if one you Murry fans could give me a link to a draft site that says he is a first or second round talent. Or even tell me the name and I can look it up myself. From what I'm reading he is the reason we are getting B minus instead of A's because they dont understand why we took him so early.

I hope it gives him ulcers.

I love that we made a serious effort, it would appear, to upgrade our O-line/depth of O-line with this. I'm very happy about that.
