I forgave Leon Lett...

LOL, I had forgiven Leon before he was off the field that day. Sure he made a mistake, but the guy had a motor and he tried his best on every single play. He did what he THOUGHT was right, as he always did.

I think the whole team felt bad for him, and nobody was angry at him for more than a heart beat. Give me another just like him, any day.

Now, I'll watch the vid.

I agree. I would love to have him again in his prime. I just thought this was pretty cool of him to do. As well as Russell Maryland and Chad Henning.

Loved the video. Smiling (or laughing out loud) nearly the whole way though it. Those guys look good too, hadn't seen any of them in a while.

Maryland was supposedly too small for the NFL.

Hennings... how did he ever fit into an A-10 anyway.

And then there is Leon. What can I say?

Nothing to dwel on - he screwed up, it's past, but it's more of a humorouse groaner now than a painful memory.

That said, I don't have the same sentiment about wishing we had Lett in his prime now. He always meant well, but he made mential mistakes on the field, and was a screw up off it. I'm good with who we have now.

I was at that game... we all saw him running down the field, realizing what was about to happen. It was almost like slow motion. Everyone around was was screaming "NO LEON, NO"... as loud as we could. I guess he was too hungry to hear us...

I can remember two gaffes. This one and the SB where he got the ball stripped from him at the goal line by Don Beebe. Other than that he was one hell of a terror.

But you mean you would take Kenyon Coleman or Josh Brent over Leon in his prime? Really?

Always felt bad for Leon. The big cat was so quick off the snap, it was almost superhuman sometimes.

The Super Bowl gaffe was never really something to get to irate over because it didn't put the game in question.

As for Leon in his prime, yes, he was more talented than Coleman or Brent, but his problem was never talent, it was inconsistency and lack of self-discipline both on and off the field. I would rather have guys that have a little less talent, but you can count on them to play within the design of the defensive scheme, and you can count on them to be there practice after practice, game after game, without worrying about if the are stoned, getting over being stoned, or if they are going to be suspended for violating the NFL's substance abuse policy. As talented as Lett was, he wasn't so talented that he was worth the trouble of having to build a consistent, cohesive unit around a guy who couldn't be counted on for consistency and cohesion.

Leon Lett was absolutely awesome and unblockable at times. He caused a lot of problems for offenses. Dude was a BEAST!!!

Yes, this was true AT TIMES. At other times he was jumping offsides, out of position, and suspended for violations of the NFL's substance abuse policy. Great talent, but not a guy to count on.

Leprechauns and dancing miniature donkeys. :lmao2:

I foregave Leon too after I stopped crying.:lmao2:

"I actually thought the ball was a snickers!":laugh2:

He made up for it in the Super Bowl that year, but a lot of people have forgotten about how he stripped Thurman when Dallas was losing.

Much like a sasquatch. A beast when he is around, but AWOL too often.

You'd rather have a journeyman over a playmaker? Truly?
