Isn't that most drafts though? Your first pick is usually a day 1 starter or so you hope.....and then everything else after that is questionable?

Most drafts may end up this way because drafting is tough, but the first two rounds (Especially when your'e drafting in the top 5) should be aimed at getting immediate starters. We took the most risky prospect in the second and then went for a DT with a ceiling as a backup in the third.

Sure, prospects have question marks. But when you're not a player in FA, you better get starters in the draft. This is how the draft played out for us.

Round 1 - Starter
Round 2 - Potential starter, biggest risk in this draft, bum knee
Round 3 - Backup
Round 4 - Developmental QB
Round 5-6 - Camp fodder

It's a weak draft with a flashy player grabbed in the first. Zeke better be the next AP.

Okay so in this draft for instance who was there? Who was there that would come in and start. None of those guys are ready to contribute right now. I hear people criticizing the Jaylan Smith move but chances are no pick right there was going to be a day 1 starter. Bruce Carter or Sean Lee weren't ready season 1. Lawrence wasn't.

The Cowboys drafted really well early considering the couple of unlucky circumstances. Fortune came back around in the 6th though. Frazier and Brown are good players and to get both in the 6th is amazing.

I can play this game. You can spin it this way...
1. Future All Pro
2. Future All Pro
3. Rotational player
4. Rotational player (you forgot Tapper)
4. Developmental QB at a good value
5-7. Project and lottery ticket picks just like every other team in the league.

Those are predictions, not what the prospects are. You're playing a different game.

Is Zeke a starter? Yes. Smith a huge risk? Yes. DT in the third a backup prospect? Yes. Prescott a developmental piece? Yes. You're sugarcoating it with the "all-pro" predictions. Nowhere did I predict the future, I'm telling you what these prospects are right now.

None? Go look at players taken in the second, a good many will be starters next year. Think we won't be seeing Sterling Shepard often?

YESS. Agreed.

-We get our workhorse stud running back for the present and future with Zeke
-Jaylon Smith is a top 5 talent in this draft. As soon as he gets healthy, which I believe he will, he's a franchise centerpiece for the defense.
-Maliek Collins was a solid pick, not outstanding. But looks like he'll definitely be apart of the rotation and can contribute.
-Charles Tapper has all the tools to be an outstanding DE with development. Freak athlete and fills probably our biggest need.
-We get a great value pick late in the 4th with Dak Prescott, at a position that we needed to address. I love his highlight tape. Was extremely productive in college and could be the future after sitting behind Romo a few years.
-Then I loved the 6th round picks. Anthony Brown was rated by Brugler as a 3-4th round pick, so good value there. Guy has 4.3 speed and good production in college. Then the safety Kavon Frazier looks like a solid pick. 5th-6th round projection, tackling machine. Then Darius Jackson looks like a beast. Crazy athleticism, 4.3 speed, 41 in vertical. Could possibly be our kick or punt returner. And that basketball player from Baylor is just whatever. If he turns into something, great. If not, oh well. He has the physical tools though but he's definitely a project.

Overall I love our draft. One of our better ones from top to bottom in years. I can't express how happy I am about the Jaylon Smith pick. He's Navarro Bowman when he gets healthy. Great player and an even better person. And I'm so hyped about the Zeke pick. I remember watching the college football playoffs with Ohio State 2 years ago when they won it all just thinking how awesome it would be if we could get Elliott, but didn't think it was realistic at all . Could be the best back since AP. So pumped about this coming year and the future!!

Collins isn't a backup prospectacular, if anything people were saying his ceiling could be pretty high.
