We’re talking about this year. Things may turn out rosy or they may not. We shall see.
my point, no different than any other year. over reaction on most. everyone is wanting a perfect camp. it will never be perfect because they are installing plays, working out the kinks, trying stuff. that's the whole purpose. if you are going to fail, fail fast and make corrections to get ready for regular season.
defense has given up 40+ TDs. should that be a cause for concern?

and i say you are wrong.. good thing a player like Prescott who has never been part of a losing season, who's been to the playoffs four out of six healthy seasons, has 167 touchdowns 26 rushing touchdowns and only 65 interceptions ,he's top five in wins since 2016, his ratings across the board for his stats like touchdown interception ratio 9th all time in the NFL.

right, now again some of the best he does not need a breakthrough or a bounce back because.... I don't think he played that poorly last year given the fact that he had put us on a run week 7 through 11 had us in the top three in offense in almost every conceivable category while the defensive special teams have problems,

maybe you ought to give him a run game like Troy and Roger had , give him Emmett Smith/tony Dorsett Landry and jimmy and that offensive line in the playoffs
.
you know the one that showed up and the coaching staff that showed up and I could tell you who needs a bounce back is the fan base the fans need to shutitup.

I watched the man come off a broken hand and take our offense from bottom 10 to top three start dropping forty 50,40, 40, points and then him going to the playoffs with a shaky offensive line and no run game, bad play calling, and somehow it still falls on him oh that's right because the Mash crew says, so if you don't get the reference well sorry..

You see what you want to see… I’m sure you have an excuse worked up for every INT and offensive failure. Which is your right as a fan.

From my perspective I have seen a pattern with Dak that I won’t gloss over. Under Kellen Moore, there were far too many instances of the following:

1. Slow, flat, sloppy starts. Bad execution out of the gate in a good number of games. Sure— Dak made a habit of storming back into contests, but the lack of polish, execution, and consistency is glaring at times.

2. He disappears in big moments over his career (already mentioned so no need to go into more detail here)

3. He has made a habit of playing “hero ball” with his BFF Kellen. He has admitted to being greedy on a number of occasions and to forcing throws— so this isn’t even up for a debate really. He flat out makes the wrong read so he can make the big play. Sometimes it works— other times, well, not so much

4. Poor touch in the short passing game. Watched it for years. Passes behind, low, high, or too hard at short targets. Screens haven’t been a big part of our offense, in part bc Dak just has a bad habit of making easy throws more difficult than they need to be.

5. Dak’s footwork and mechanics break down too much— especially under pressure. Lots of backfoot throws and rushed reads and throws that lead to bad things.

Where he is at his best is when he has a strong running game, and he can kill teams in PA passing and when they blitz him. If they drop in coverage and we aren’t able to run — he starts to struggle.

He is a too 10 QB in my opinion, but if we are going to make a step forward in the postseason, we need more from #4 and he would be the first to agree with me.

Defense looks good. Quinn has earned my trust. But this offense? Man, there are just too many question marks to feel good heading into this season:

1. Questionable OL depth, and now Zack Martin drama

2. Questionable RB depth behind Pollard who has questions about carrying a full time load and recovering from an injury

3. Gallup has questions about his recovery from last year

4. Questionable WR depth behind Lamb and Cooks

5. No proven TE1 and a gimpy 2nd round TE with plenty of questions

6. New offensive scheme and play-caller who ended with huge question marks his last couple years in that role

7. Nothing but questions at kicker

8. Big questions around Dak bouncing back from last year, and being able to deliver in big moments

Every year there are a few questions— but damn, there are too many for me to feel anything but uneasy as we roll towards Sept
It’s Salary cap football. We are far better than most.

Agreed. Which is why this should be an “all in” season. Trade a DT for a decent piece or two along the OL and shore up a leaky unit. Figure out a solution with Zack. And for crying out loud, sign a vet kicker already.

There are a lot of moves they could make to try and mitigate the areas of concern on offense— but they are standing pat.

To your point— we have a better roster than most— but that won’t matter much if we can’t get over the hump in Jan. We seem to be taking an “it’s good enough” approach on offense, hence why I am uneasy.

Competing for the division is not the ultimate goal, and we are still behind the Eagles and 49ers in a watered down NFC

You again make no sense. When did I say or even allude to any of that? What are you even saying? You said they would start for other teams. You brought it up, not me. I disagreed and you doubled down. So tell me which of the multiple teams you were referring to when you said Dowdle and Davis will start for if we cut them.
I’ll help you comprehend better. I believe Davis or Rico could start for at least half the league. Why? Because it doesn’t take greatness to start at running back anymore, it takes average. WTBS, Davis will probably be the one looking for another team unless the FO finds a cheap trade for Rico. Duece isn’t going anywhere annd might end up being the full time #2. RoJo sealed his own fate with roids and being over weight. We will have to see what happens in the three PS games.

pick one , any team who doesn’t have a top 15 RB would have the same production out of either of those guys as they would their own guy.

There is absolutely zero chance Davis or Dowdle could start for half the teams in the league. That is just insane

I wouldn't say it was a disaster, but it wasn't great. Gilmore and Cook were great moves, specifically Gilmore, but outside of that, what the heck?

The draft was lackluster

Overall, we said we wanted to be tougher on offense, but now we have questionable OL depth, undersized backs, an injury prone old rookie TE, and an undersized #2 WR.
It was a great off season. The draft was a home run. The so-called lack OL depth is being far overblown. Schoon is fine and not injury prone. The WR corp is the best the Cowboys have had in many many years. Don't let the naysays get you down. There is a reason most everyone believes we at least the 3rd best team in the NFC or better.

Of course there are things we all wonder about, but some people are always stressed. There’s always areas of potential success AND failure.

Got something against Brandon Aubrey?

The Cowboys are standing pat because they aren't buying the overblown panic some fans feel.
The kid has only missed slightly less than Vizcaino. In camp. In perfect weather and conditions.

If we are going to a run heavy, TOP control offense, then points are even more of a commodity.

Robbie Gould is sitting out there, and though he may not have the leg he once did, he would be automatic from 45 yards and in.

IMO— this is not the year to try and find a K on the cheap. We’ll see how Aubrey does. I’ll be rooting for him to succeed

There are always questions. Every team’s fans have them.

The NFL universe is saying the Cowboys have a legitimate chance to contend

Why wring your hands and fear the worst before we even play a pre-season game?

Is it just the angst of this board that we can never have hope?

Sometimes I just wonder if this is why we can’t have nice things.

The offense was highly productive under Kellen Moore. And also inconsistent and inefficient in some key areas.

There are a lot of questions to be answered. They have the opportunity to show it on the field… I think we have been conditioned to expect disappointment after 3 decades of underachievement lol

I said it after the draft...and still stand by it...this off season had been nothing short of a disaster.
The only thing this team did right was let go of Zeke and Anthony Brown....
Losing Kellen was a monstrous mistake...
Letting McGovern walk...mistake
Not drafting a RB earlier than the 6th round...mistake
Not finding a kicker.....mistake
Not moving on from Dak.....mistake
Thinking Tyron will make it through a season...mistake
Letting Schultz walk.....mistake
Thinking Gilmore and Cook was enough work in free agency...mistake
Sitting on this roster...no roster turnover...mistake

It's as if they think this team is complete...while the rest of the league continues to churn the bottom of their rosters...player acquisition is 24/7/365....this organization....has the least transactions of any franchise....which tells me....this team is lazy when it comes to scouting.....another mistake.

Say what you want....but Jerry's 0 for nothing without Jimmy....speaks volumes.
Do you have a problem with the first round pick
