I know someone that was walking thru a pond area north of here {OKC} felt something hit the back of his leg and he thought it was a branch snapping back or something like that. The next day he was horribly ill and it literally took him several weeks for a full recovery. Cottonmouths are no joke.
Whats the prognosis?

They live up there too. From there and I have seen lots of them in lakes and ponds. Can be aggressive if provoked.

Teen captures, is bitten by cottonmouth snake

Wimauma, Florida -- Deputies say a Hillsborough County teenager is in the hospital after he was bitten on the lips by a venomous snake.

Investigators say 18-year-old Austin Hatfield captured a cottonmouth snake on Saturday and put the reptile in a pillowcase at his girlfriend's house in Wimauma. At some point the snake escaped from the pillowcase and bit Hatfield on the mouth.
