Trade down with Detroit so they can draft Prince; we grab their 3rd rounder
1st round: OT Tyron Smith, USC
This gives Dallas a solid bookend, tackle combo for a very long time. Smith will step in right away and start at RT, while the Cowboys release Colombo.
2nd round: G/C Danny Watkins, Baylor
Because of Leonard Davis' fat contract, the Cowboys need to cover themselves by going OL strong early. We know Houck loves Watkins and he would bring a nastiness to the OL, similar to what Colombo has done in the past.
3rd round (3a): DE/DT Kenrick Ellis, Hampton
Rob Ryan loves versatile defensive linemen, and Ellis fits the bill. This guy is a huge sleeper and could push for a starting job down the line.
3rd round (3b): CB Ras I-Dowling, Virginia
Because of durability concerns, the Cowboys lock up the talented corner in the 3rd round. He could be our Chris Canty. We have the best strength and conditioning coach in the NFL. Get him healthy, and keep him healthy.
4th round: ILB Greg Jones, Michigan State
More ILB depth is needed with Bradie James and Keith Brooking in a contract year. The Cowboys have interest.
5th round: S Da'Norris Searcy, North Carolina
We know the Cowboys are bringing him in for a workout. Safety competition is needed. I still fully expect the Cowboys to sign Huff and possibly Sensabaugh once he realizes there is no market for him.
6th round: WR Andre Holmes, Hillsdale
A big-bodied WR that the Cowboys like. Ogletree cannot be depended on, Hurd won't be back and this is Roy Williams' last year.
7th round (7a): RB Allen Bradford, USC
Our future goalline back.
7th round (7b): OLB Bruce Miller, UCF
More pass rushers are always needed in a 3-4. Brandon Williams and Victor Butler have disappointed.
Comments are very much appreciated.
