10 more QBs ranked in the top 100.

Rodgers
Brees
Rivers
Brady
Manning x2
Newton
Stafford
Ryan
Vick ( I think)

What... I don't even. How does PEYTON get in there??

I think it's a joke that ryan, stafford, cam and vick all rank higher then tony. Especially cam. Guy had one good year and now hes all of a sudden the chosen one and seems they want him as the poster boy for the nfl

I guess by how poorly the Colts did without him. It showed his value by going from a SB team with him to a 2-14 without

I just can't get worked up over these subjective polls. Players can choose whom they think constitute the top 100 players. It's only their opinion. More power to them.

Surprised the "Rapist" is not in that list.

I agree him not being there, but NFL seems to love him and so I thought he would be in top 10.

If you don't believe Big Ben is a top 10 QB in the league, you just can't be objective. If he's not in there it's a bigger disgrace than where they ranked Romo.

I wish I could yell this from the rooftops.

These lists have absolutely nothing to do with statistical performance. They are lists which are 100% popularity based.

Voting player gets a ballot sheet.

Each sheet is filled out with only twenty names.

Those names are whom each voting player considers as the best in the NFL regardless of position.

Now, this is the flaw which NFL Network intentionally created solely for controversy sake alone: all the individual ballots of twenty names are thrown together to produce ONE list composed of 100 names.

The result is what many people complain about every year. As long as the format remains unchanged, the same complaints will be raised every year.

Again, it is a popularity contest only and nothing else. The more popular any one player is among all the voters, the more often his name will be written on each individual ballot. Since each voter is limited to only twenty names on his ballot, it pushes certain names down the list and pushes others up the list.

Why would Peyton Manning be on this list? Why would his name be well above where critics think his name should be?

IT IS BECAUSE THE LIST IS A POPULARITY CONTEST. Nothing more. Nothing less. Even though I understand the format and do not really have a problem with it, I cannot praise NFL Network for the list because they do absolutely nothing about clearing up its true function with their viewers.

Sure, it is transparent, but only after viewers take into consideration how the list is put together. In my opinion, NFL Network could still net a highly engaging countdown by allowing each voter the opportunity of listing 100 names on each ballot for a 100 player list. Tony Romo and Jason Witten would automatically rise in the rankings if that were to happen because their names would not be squeezed out of more ballots.

It will not happen though. I believe NFL Network has many of its viewers exactly where they want them.

I posted this another thread about these list shows, but I think it's worth repeating:

When people produce list shows, they are not trying to put together the list they say they are. They are doing what they euphemistically call "generating discussion". It is actually trolling/baiting. When you get mad at them and go rant about it, you are encouraging them to continue doing things like calling Tony Romo the 91st best player in the NFL right now.

Check out ESPN's home page or the NFC East blog, they have a whole thing on Romo being a top 5 QB with some pretty cool new stats to back it up. It feels like a direct swipe at the NFL Network thing.

Anyhow...we just gotta win and everything will take care of itself.

You're probably right.

He has improved, but he wins too many games 13-7 after going 9-20 for 170 yds. or somthing similar.

They rarely win because of him. But he does win so there is that. His defense keeps him in games.

He keeps the play alive, I'll give him that.

Can't stand the big dufus.

I cant see players voting all those QB's ahead of Romo. I cant see Romo being disliked this much my his peers on the NFL field.

imho....its all hogwash.....Romo has a career year and he drops almost out of the top 100 and tebow makes it?

I dont know why I even watch or listen to this kind of gibberish the spews from these mediots.

Totally agree. To make it more balanced, they should increase the individual ballot options to 100. Heck, 150 would be even better.

I think that's who I forgot. I'm pretty sure it's him besides Vick.

Just have a few pickup games in the field behind ESPN and tell the players the winning get double their salary for the year and the losers don't get paid.

Then have them choose players, like we used to....I'll take Vick...I'll take Tony.

See who gets chosen first and last.

I would say they're thinking if they expand it to 100 names, a lot of players wouldn't bother. It's probably hard enough to get them to do 20.

I agree with that as well. NFL Network understands that fully. The thing to remember is that the current format creates this level of verbal disagreement among viewers. And THAT'S exactly what their main goal is behind the current format.
