What happens if Witten is injured?

This situation must be observed very carefully because we do not have interest in Dan Campbell plus our TE corps is mediocre. I have the feeling that we will go to fill this position in the 2 round pick with Leonard Pope or Dominique Byrd. Either of two will be huge addition to our team. We need to boost our passing game with this guys. Any thought about this concern.

Probably not that high. We're looking for starters in day one. They can probably pick up someone in FA or later rounds of the draft.

Big TE Weapons in top of draft in Davis/Pope. Bledsoe needs offensive targets and these guys are big, fast and can go get it.

Very plausable!

if witten is injured we adjust a little. can it make a difference for a lack of depth at the TE position? a little, sure.

now wanna get scared, what if drew gets hurt? we may wanna redirect some of that concern. : )

I would love to see David Thomas fall like Witten did right into the Cowboys lap...Witten and Thomas would be just filthy.

I think the one good thing about Bledsoe is that he's shown that if the pass protection is good, he doesn't need a good receiving corp to be effective.

He never really had a good receiving corp in New England and in Buffalo in 2002, he had a good one in Moulds, but Peerless Price was shown to be overrated and probably carried by Bledsoe when you think about it.

However, he needs "good" pass protection. If it's "average" or "below average" his effectiveness greatly dips.

If Campbell is truly leaving, I wouldn't be surprised to see them draft a TE in day 2, unless they really like Pierce, Ryan and Tony Curtis.

Witten with Pope or Byrd, we will have a good chance to put a lot pressure in the middle of the field and our WR will see more man to man coverages.

What if Adams is hurt again? We should trade up for D'Brickshaw Ferguson. We need that insurance incase Adams goes down again.

Or what if Roy Williams gets hurt? We should draft a SS in the first round as insurance to that possible injury. Or maybe T-New gets hurt? We should draft a CB in the first just in case.

With Campbell gone - bringing in a big TE like Pope/Davis in draft is an option.

Sleeper TE - Scheffler
Later Day 1 - Klopfenstein is a good TE prospect

Rack - exactly who do you draft at #18 - ?

Thanks,

Pope 6-8 -256 4.62 speed
Davis 6-4 -255 4.38 speed

Both these guys can run and catch and just may be BPA at #18...... Both are the new breed offensive wearons that play up as a WR some, more than just a TE.

Witten
Davis
Glenn
Crayton in a 4 wide set - that would wreck a DC's world!

Lawson if he's there. Carpenter is Lawson isn't there. Both those guys would be impact STARTERS on day 1.

Fact of the matter is, at the 18 spot, LB is gonna be the strength of the draft.

If anything, maybe trade down 3-5 spots and hope Carpenter falls past your New England Patriots.

Davis will be gone by the 18th pick anyway.

so why are you worried about depth at TE when you're not at QB?

We suffered a lot time without the presence of true TE (Lefleur, Lucky, Bjornson,Whalen and the guy that we sign from Tennesse after Rams:Titans Super Bowl). Good TE during second round pick bring additional dimension to the passing game (See Patriots with two solid FORMERS 1 round TE (Daniel Graham and Ben Watson).

We aren't the patriots, Nors. We aren't in a position to draft luxury players. We aren't a defending superbowl champion.

The Patriots sucked in 2000 at 5-11. They drafted themselves to 3 SB's by taking BPA and drafting to strengths. It worked....

Is not a luxury a draft a TE in the second round when you NEED TO FILL a TE starter position. Pope, Davis or Byrd will be starter from the first day.

Yes - Davis likely gone by #18
Trade down -for Carpenter/Lawson

Davis/Ngata - BPA

NT - Watson is another target - no depth in draft behind him.

I think we can get Lawson/Carpenter in two - thats my plan. Wimbley/Anderson/Howard could also be nice OLB adds in 3-4.

1)Ngata - NT
2)Carpenter - OLB
3) Anderson 4-3 situational rusher

How about that!
Insert Davis at #1 and draft a Fafita, Oshinowo type NT day 2
