I Have a Fascination for World War II Planes

No sir. Have not even heard of it.

You should check it out, if you like planes then it would be right up your alley. They recreate historical dogfights using computer graphics and then they bring in the pilots to give commentary on what it was like. Here's a clip of P-51s vs ME 109s...

and P38s vs ME109s

Pearl Harbor. If for no other reason to see Kate Beckinsale in that red dress.

Correction: If for no other reason to see Cuba Gooding Jr. unleash the .50 cal on the approaching Zeroes

Hos, when looking up "Dogfights", check out the SBD Dauntless vs. 3 Zeros.

Dauntless wins...no joke. You'll never guess how though.

I've spent most of the morning watching episodes on youtube. Have not seen this one yet. If you, or anyone else, stumbles across it post it for me.

Love this stuff.

I inherited a love of WWII aircraft from my dad.

He has a pilot license and spent many years dodging utility poles and trees while crop-dusting.

His favorite, and mine, is the P-51 Mustang. It was always his dream to be able to fly one some day, but it never worked out.

Our favorite movie, by far, was Midway. Lots of actual footage.

I watched it 3 times on AMC in the last few weeks. Great movie and I can't believe I forgot it. Wasn't thinking ships and carriers.

I toured the USS Midway at San Diego a couple of years ago. I love aircraft carriers.

Went there when I lived up there. Went home with a sore neck.

I just realized that I called a P-38 a P-51. :eek::

Glad you enjoy the show though Hos!

When I was looking for the pictures I found several pictures of Japanese Zeros in the water. I think at least a couple of these are the same plane. Notice on this first one that the propeller stick up out of the water.

Chilling shots.

Same plane as above. Here you can see the prop sticking out a bit.

Not 100% sure, but I think this is also the same plane.

The cowling burying into the silt. Notice the grooves along the body.

The best shot IMO. I would love to dive on that one. The water is so blue.

Bottoms up.

This one is too big to post, but is a great shot.

Another large one. I believe of the plane above with the diver visible.

I like the arrow on the tail pointing to the pilot which way to fly the plane.
