I know some of you have already said this but something interested me in the PC today. BP was like Rector is going to play at WR.

With the way teams are playing our run guys we have no other choice but to open a can of ala pass :D

With teams stacking the box and run blitzing we will not be able to run to establish the pass. We simply have to many passing weapons to not attack this defense. Granted Jax might not need to stack the box or run blitz because of their DL.

Regardless our offense is most lethal when we spread out and pass the ball followed by draws and screens. Once we unleash it teams will be forced to change the game plan.

I am sick of our run game getting spanked.

Thoughts?

I don't know if it happens but I agree they could use the pass to set up the run if they wanted too.

I am almost positive we will be a pass first offense this season.

Passing the ball a lot , is more likely to have more INT's. we cant forget about Bledsoe, hes a nice QB but is prone to make that stoopid INT. I really hope it gets better.

The key to everything is this OL being able to succeed against 7 man fronts,,, I'm not convinced they can ,,,

I think the OL does a good job of pass blocking.

Uh...maybe you didn't watch the pre season, but every time teams were in 7 man fronts, we did really well. As soon as they went to 8 and sometimes even 9, we sucked b***s. Go check it out.

I like your plan here.

Almost as much as I like the anticipation of seeing Rector play.

I can see a ton of toss left/rights in this game. I can't see how they can run up the middle with those monsters in the middle.

We need to wear them down with the passing attack, and then get up in them with tosses and sweeps. Make them tackles run run run!!

We are going to open up the offensive playbook. The pass may set up the run but we'll see how we intitially progress when we probe with the run. This offense can 't be shut down on all fronts if the Oline adequately blocks.

The defense will be like seven kinds of wild lemming out there going after Leftwich.

I expect blitzes to no end. But we should be careful with Matt's speed, perhaps on all out blitzes, we need Henry to line up pretty far off Jones.

Good point Clove. Jones is almost Moss fast and pretty high up in the stratosphere. He has good hands too. All he has been lacking is optimal receiver experience. But he can really hurt us.

Unless JJones was holding back in pre-season, the cowboys will have no choice but to pass first, then maybe try to sneak a short yardage running play into the mix.

uh, maybe I watched every single preseason game from start to finish and liked their pass-blocking against bottom-feeder teams,,, but their run blocking sucked. Go check it out,,,

I agree 100%...my biggest beef last year with Payton was the run first mentality.

We do NOT have the horses up front to force/establish a run first attack like Pitt can....we just don't. Last year in the few games we threw first opened up the offense so much more...a huge difference in those games.

Some teams this year we can do that, but in most cases we need to pass to open up the run...and why not, we have the fire power and protection to do that.

I think you have to mix it up, I have no problem with establishing the run but I think you have to continue to mix it up. If not you become too predictable regardless if you are talking run 1st or pass 1st. I also would not sell this unit short on the ability to run the ball.

Not to the point of becoming to predictable obviously...with that said...we were so predictable last year it drove me nuts. We had a few games we came out passing and what a difference that made for the run.

I want a balanced offense...not saying if we pass to set up the run we pass more...can still do that and acheive a 50/50 ratio.

Payton stayed with the run first even when it was not working...I hope this year we are smart enough to know when we need to change it up during the game.

I don't disagree with this in the end if your offense is able to be balanced I think you become a much more effective offense than those who rely on just 1 aspect of the offense. I think it is a good ideal to mix it up on 1st down but your right if all you do is run on 1st DC will stick you in 2nd/3rd and long all day and that is hard to overcome on a consistent basis.
