I have both hope and doubts. It's ok to have both

I don’t blame you John. I am skeptical about this defense for sure. Until they prove otherwise, this team and its coaches are unproven. A good off-season isn’t the same as proving it during the real games that matter.

As I said I’m hopeful but with realistic doubts
Hi Bob,
I always appreciate your balanced post.
Please keep up the good work !
Thanks

The Pickens move should be a great one......the other moves are meh and the draft picks are yet to be determined

That's real
Pickens trade was fantastic. The other moves were really replacing lost players. Fans have different opinions if they were upgrades or not. And in reality, we just need to wait and see.

They had what looks to be a very good draft.
So what can the new coaching staff do with it all.
Again, wait and see, show us on the field. I am not expecting any miracles. But I think they can be competitive once all the players get healthy.

So I am like most. Have some hope for improvement, with some caution. I won't call it doubt at this point, just caution.

we have had a better offseason then last year and its clear

Key to this season is just how good Schoty is as a HC

A really good HC can make up for a mediocre or worse GM to an extent. It depends on the talent available

My big worry is our Run D. I think we will be ok to good and maybe better in the other areas and shine in Special Teams.

If we get SCHOT with luck and our seventh rd DT really over perform we could go really well

My life doesn't revolve around the Cowboys. Hope might be important in the day to day life, but in regard to the Cowboys, hope really doesn't matter. They will win or lose regardless of whether I hope for it.

And yes, I am tired of the team being good enough to avoid getting a really great draft pick but not being good enough to win when the other team has a little more talent. I am tired of losing to teams that don't have as many talented players because our team isn't put in the best position to win.

I am tired of the GM that throws around accomplishments from 30 years ago as being meaningful today. They aren't. The glow has worn off and they are nothing but a distant memory. I am tired of the GM that says he would write the biggest check to win a Super Bowl but refuses to put pen to paper and do it. I am tired of the GM that is more impressed with glitz than about results.

I am tired of having great players that give their heart and soul and health for the team and leave the game never having had the chance to play for all the marbles. How many years did the Cowboys ignore the OL because Romo could run around and make plays while avoiding crazy pressure? How many years have the Cowboys refused to invest in the run defense, which in many ways is the single most effective way to stop teams? If you can shut down the run with your base defense, offenses will struggle against you. Philly feasts on offenses because their front four gets it done over and over.

Dallas won in the past because they weren't afraid to take chances. Jimmy Johnson came in and shook everything up with bold moves...and it worked. Since then we have just been pretenders, doing enough window dressing to not tank, but never doing enough to be a true threat. The Cowboys of the 90's went out and got the best CB in the game. They traded for the best pass rusher in the game. They built a team and system that emphasized precision rather than the spectacular. Everyone knew Michael Irvin was going to run the skinny post, but no one could stop it consistently. Everyone knew that Emmitt was gonna get the ball, yet he still got yard after yard, especially the most important ones.

My interest in football has decreased significantly over the past 5-10 years. Not sure if just aging or if it is because of the complacency of the owner. From Hot Boyz to team slogans it jsut falls on deaf ears. I am not ready to give up on the Cowboys but I definitely don't live and die with them anymore. Sadly, if they should ever win again, I don't think there will be nearly as much joy that comes with it.

Wow...that was long winded.
Cathartic though. I love a good rant.

I think we all have that mindset. So many things can happen. But if we can for once stay healthy with key players I think the team can be pretty good. Not likely SB good but maybe playoffs good
I don't recall hope having anything to do with how I felt about our dominant 90's teams.

I don't think KC fans are hoping their team makes the playoffs.

We have been reduced to hope, because we have an incompetent GM, who really does not have a legit plan.

Get some coffee. They have a plan. Things are looking up.

You know what I find interesting is why you care so much about what other Cowboys fans say about what they feel about the Cowboys. If they don’t agree with you, it’s “negative”? Isn’t this a forum?

I support your right to be as positive and thrilled about every move, every player acquired, every new coach, every possibility this team has. I support your right to believe anything good about the Cowboys. In fact, I wholly support your right to feel and express whatever you feel about the Cowboys.

So why can’t other fans express their feelings and opinions too? Even those you believe are “negative”?
You can say that until you turn blue and I'm going to tell you that you're in denial if you don't think 75% of people's posts that are absolutely all doubt and all negativity before one snap is played in a real game, that do nothing but wine cry and complain every day in here is somehow just them being their own kind of fan!! lmao umm ok .

NO, I'd say that they're exactly what I thought they were..
You won't win this debate with me every year is a 1 off all the negativity and past that some of these fans hold and keep mentioning 30 years they keep mentioning 15 years ago they keep crying about Jimmy Johnson you know what ask a therapist it is not good to hold on to the past it is not good to keep blaming the past for things that might go wrong in the future..

LET IT GO!!!

Every year is a one off every year is a new year every year is going to bring different things if you want to complain how things are going during the year you want to complain after a game you want to complain after the seasons over that's fine complain all you want but if you want to keep complaining once the new league gear starts and things start changing and we start looking forward to a new year then that's a deep down deep seated problem with people's personalities they're horrible.

Debbie Downers are not popular in society..woeys me..lmao ..

I might say I have my reservations about this season but since I already bought tickets for the Vikings game in december, my actions say otherwise.

Well that’s about as perfect as it gets. One paragraph better than the next. Take the time to read it people.

This team and the NFL used to be more important in my life than it probably should have been, but now I’m much more numb to it…and no it’s not age…it’s Jerry and his act.

I’m in a strange spot. I can’t stand that guy so much that I’m not even sure I truly want to win until he is gone. I definitely wouldn’t enjoy it as much, and not close. Very moot however.

It really doesn’t come down to much more than the fact that the people running the team aren’t qualified and aren’t any good at what they do, yet can’t be replaced. Make the same mistakes again and again and carry themselves with an arrogance that makes one want to puke.

As a seven year old I chose this team because of who they were, who their leaders were, and what they stood for. Landry, Staubach, etc….Now I’m left with the Jerry ego act, stripper busses, and paternity suits…and it’s embarrassing. The guy is a complete buffoon yet can’t shut his mouth.

The whole organization is a sham and based on a lie so Jerry can get his “credit” and prove to the world that he could do what Johnson did. Ok Jerry. You’re “around the rim.”
Reality TV at its finest.
Another great summary of the current state of the Cowboys.

This team isn’t winning the Super Bowl. What else actually matters? I for one would prefer a high draft pick to an early playoff exit. If we accumulate talent over the next several years, maybe the next QB can get us a title.
Exactly.
You're not alone.

Serious question Rambo…why should Cowboys fans “buy in” and NOT sell this FO short?

After all these years of JJ leading this organization, why should we now “believe” this is the year?

Not saying you’re wrong. You can believe and express whatever you want. I’m just asking WHY should we have your level of faith?
They don't need to buy into anything there's neutral ground here you don't have to be excited nor negative you don't have to be 24 hours a day having your umbrella open on a perfectly sunny day waiting for rain that's annoying I'm convinced that half of y'all are like that you literally take an umbrella even though the weather guy told you it wasn't going to rain today and there's no chance of rain probably for the next 30 days you walk around with your umbrella open....

I can tell you why every year's a one off it's a new year every year I don't care who the front office is it's a new team and this year it's a new team full of new coaches and a lot of new faces we don't need people being so negative going I bet they don't win 5 games this year really because if you're looking at the past show me all those past games where we only won five games or a season where we were healthy where we didn't win more than nine games prescott's never lost more than 8 Games he's never had a losing season so it's easy to at least stay neutral and wait and see it's a new year with new challenges and new problems and also new heights and new success..

Once the front office puts all this in motion starting game one this is on the players and the coaches it literally is almost always on the players they don't execute in the big games and that's not Jerryd fault I find the irony here when Jerry puts so many players on the field with like market contracts that means our superstars we have a lot of Pro Bowlers a lot of market guys we have a lot of players that are talked about on ESPN and it ends up in the top 100 most years and yet those players somehow get a pass from most people and just blame Jerry.

Jerryd more than once in the last 30 years put a Super Bowl caliber roster together and you can laugh all you want there have been nine pro bowlers 12 pro bowlers 13 pro bowlers this team has been loaded and then they just fail in the first or second round because they failed they failed to produce they choked in the big moments and you could keep blaming Jerry all you want the front office does what they do or don't do but once it starts the season starts it is on the players and coaches to execute to their best and better than their best..

You want to know what better than their best means because it sounds weird nick Foles Eli Manning guys like him and I'm just going to use them as examples not because their quarterbacks are just off the top of my head players that have had mediocre careers mediocre seasons but somehow at the right moment they plagued beyond their past they played beyond their expectations we hardly have a single player on this team including guys like Demarcus Ware Tyrone Smith Zach Martin and Travis Frederick these guys who you and other people even Jason Witten, that you say all these poor guys Jerry Jones ruined career because they never got a Super Bowl ,no last I checked they ruined their own careers....

That's a fact I get it there are some offseasons that are frustrating like last year terry talks two months he says a lot of things it can annoy everyone of us a lot of times you need to tune out the noise but he's put many seasons together where you have a team just say like 2018 so we could stay in the at least recent past that Rams game that wasn't Jerry not giving them enough have they get to the second round in the 1st place no the defense choked and the big moments the best players did not show up there's been offensive lines recently that have had 11 penalties against San Francisco but we blame Jerry because they decided at the wrong moment to just hold and jump off sides all game?

But again put it all aside you're talking about trusting the front office no you don't have to do any of that no buying in but you don't have to be a 100 per cent negative and expecting the worse at all times put your umbrella up and enjoy a game by game weekly football game the season will come together at the end or it won't and then we could talk about it and then move on and reset for the next year..

Teams have done this 1960 to 2017 the Eagles fans had to wait that long for one championship fifty six years for the Kansas City Chiefs from their two Super Bowl wins that was the gap that's a way bigger gap that drought is bigger there are teams I've never won a Super Bowl some of them have never even been to a Super Bowl the Cleveland Browns haven't even wanted a vision since 1989..

This happens that's why you gotta look at it as a year to year fair and just learn to let things go there's nothing about buying it anything none of us are buying into anything we're just looking forward to a new season of possible success...

I might say I have my reservations about this season but since I already bought tickets for the Vikings game in december, my actions say otherwise.
sucker LOL JK

This is why you buy tickets for the first 6 games there's much more hope that they're still in it for the year and still playing hard trying to win.. December might be a wasted ticket lol. I like October games weathers beautiful for tailgating and they still have HOPE LOL..
