The Schultz play was useless as the game was over. If SF RB staying in bounds after the first game was way more non-headed as this would have kept the time running and Dallas wouldn’t have even had another series that exposed Dak’s horrible Qb play. Further, even if Schultz catches it they still needed yardage to go to even attempt a Hail Mary.

Seems like a thread to absolve the elephant in the room by the name of Dak.

Kellen Morre was not, is not, and will never be better than Kyle Shanahann. Kyle was in the Super Bowl with Matt Ryan. Kyle was in the Super Bowl with Garapalo. Kyle is on the cusp of being the Super Bowl with Purdy. That is 3 different QBs over a 10 year window. Again...the teams are not evenly matched.
This is the biggest and best takeaway from yesterday. It is far past time for Moore to go. But not if the replacement is hand-strung and told to keep things status quo.

Go get someone from the Shanahann or McVay tree and give them the authority and freedom to change and challenge Dak. That was my issue with the McCarthy hire. Not McCarthy himself, but Boy Wonder was retained and the offense didn’t appreciable change from what has been for a decade.

Nobody is absolving Dak. He didn’t play his best. Let’s not forget that SF also dropped another int that likely would have been a pick 6.

On the Schultz performance at the end of the game, two plays were very large. The first he doesn’t get both feet down. That would have gotten us to the 40 or so. Then he gets pushed back and we lose a bunch of clock.

My point is that our best players didn’t make enough plays, Dak included.

Yeah this team went toe to toe on the road with what is probably the best team in the conference, but it felt like too many players on the Cowboys weren't ready for the moment. Simply missed opportunity after missed opportunity. You want to chalk some of it up to coaching, but at some point players have to actually make a play. Diggs has to catch the football, that is what he does. Schultz has to do the fundamentals. Dak has to act like he has played in an actual NFL game before. Kickers have to make XPs. Your guys in coverage need to know late in games to take away the inside so receivers can't get the easy underneath catch. The frustrating part of all this is talent wise the Cowboys matched up very well with SF, the Cowboys just couldn't make the routine plays.
That play really stood out to me. We let him walzt up the middle instead of COVERING the middle. Unbelievable.

We all agreed that they were a little bit better than us before we played the game right? Well last night they beat us by a little bit ‍♂️ sucks but analytically speaking this is how it was going to play out majority of the time with a thousand different variables changing every time.

I am proud of how this team battled last night, and the job that Mike McCarthy did given the adversity and injuries this year. Having said that, if I am honest, I have to admit that we were beaten by a better team last night.

When teams are so evenly matched, and we are, the games come down to a handful of plays/decisions.

1. Fred Warner picks off the deflected pass and Trevon drops his chance

2. Schulz drops a pass on the sideline (tough catch but one he should make), then gets knocked backwards at the end of the game to keep the clock running. By contrast, Kittle makes an amazing catch on the drive that ultimately put them in front for good (also, Trevon could have possibly pulled it loose but whiffed completely)

3. A rookie qb for SF made some pinpoint throws in tight coverage with pressure in his face and our qb didn’t do it enough (e.g., Michael Gallup deep pass)

4. We get a special teams fumble and have 1st and goal at the 7 and didn’t score a TD

5. Our KR makes a great return, but if he breaks to the outside at the end of the run he scores

Just a handful of plays and differences that mattered and showed that the better team won. May not have been the case if Tony and Carlos Watkins don’t get hurt (Watkins was stout against the run)

We have a lot to build on, but have some tough decisions to make in the offseason. I hope we can continue trending upwards.
Got news for you...the better team didn't win. Cowboys beat themselves...

Time and time again this team shows it's not ready for the bright lights.

2014 we saw them barely overcome the Lions to face Rodgers in GB. They blow a lead with silly mistakes and the "catch" was something that was two players trying to do too much.
2016 they lay an egg on both sides of the ball in the first half. Too little too late in the 2nd half.
2018 they have a nice win vs Seattle only to be ran out of Town vs the Rams. No adjustments by players/coaches.
etc...
Last year the offense struggles all day and the defense gives up a lot of rushing yards.
This year the defense clamps down but the offense/Dak decides to force passes/not precise on ball placement.

Good post and while I agree with everything you said our two highest paid players and the leaders of the offense are Dak and Zeke. Proud of the rests of the team they fought very hard. Very much ashamed of those two.

C’mon man. I am a homer too, but one team is moving on and one is going home. You can say we beat ourselves, but SF made the plays and we didn’t.
