I have never been able to understand the lack of respect for Malik Davis

But he beat out Jaden Blue last season for the RB 2 job so they must REALLY think bad of Blue if a no talent bum like Davis beat him out. :p
If you knew a thing about blocking you would know it was the OL. Schottenheimer literally said that walking off the field at half time.

I'm not just talking about LAST NIGHTS game. Blue has been soft since he got here last year,....that's why Davis took his job last season. I'm pulling for Blue like I am everyone else,...just not seeing many positive signs from him yet.

We made the same kind of mistakes with Dowdell, then he made us pay dearly for it last season when he was a panther. With our defense as putrid as it was back then it made for the perfect revenge game scenario for him. NIGHTMARE........
Everyone thought Dowdell sucked until he didn't.

It is very difficult to evaluate a back up RB or TE on this roster, because we refuse to split time.

Dowdle was a good back with the Cowboys, but Javonte Williams is a more talented back. They chose the right guy. Dowdle played well with the panthers but he slowed down in the second half of the season.

He is absolutely our best option at RB 2. Was last year as well. In fact since he has been with the team he has done nothing but produce when given the opportunity. IMO he is the very definition of what a solid RB 2 looks like in the NFL. He may not be GREAT at anything,....but he is good at EVERYTHING. He is the type of runner where if the O line has 4 yards blocked up he will get you those four yards and once in a while break one for more. You don't see him running into the backs of the O lineman or trying to take it outside only to end up getting stoned at the LOS when taking the easy 4 would have been the smart play. Blue to me is a boom or bust guy,....quite honestly he looks to my eye like a disaster just waiting to happen. P M is another Solid guy like Davis but is at least a notch or two below. Seems like we are wasting a whole lot of time looking for this phantom RB 2 when the truth is we already have him and he has been here the whole time.
I'm with you brother! Every year they cut him and plan on growing their new and improved RBs, and EVERY year, the Boys muck it up again and Davis comes right back, no hard feelings, and plays at a higher level than whatever depth he replaced. Go get em GM Jerry!

Wow that is a pretty disingenuous presentation of his stats, why only show 5 games when he played in 10 and in 5 of them he had 4.8 or better ypc.

I just showed the last 5, that's what showed on first search but I can show them all if you'd like. Those make his numbers look even worse. Saying "5 of them he had 4.8 or better ypc." is more disingenuous when you're factoring in 1 game with 3 carries that completely skews the numbers with a single 43 yard run. JAG

I stated facts, you showed half the story.

I showed facts, you just don't like what they implied. JAG Nothing in the rest of the season or his career show any different. He pops off a few good runs that pad his ypc and otherwise nothing noteworthy.

You right no other back pops off good runs that increase their ypc. Got it.

I feel it's more about draft capital and seeing what they can do. I think Shotty means it and will pick the best man for the job. Heck who knows, might not even be on the team atm.

He been having to prove himself his whole career. He still fights for it with zero attitude. That's inspiring. Malik is #2!! Let's Go JJ!

I agree with your subject line, OP. It always seems to me that Malik Davis gets discounted or dismissed by lots of people. But each time I see him play, whether preseason or regular season, he's consistently getting 4, 5, 6 yards a run.

He's got decent size and athleticism but doesn't necessarily blow you away in either category. But he seems to have good vision and quick, sharp processing. He often finds the hole or crease quickly and gets north/south right away, while making the right cut at the right time past the first level. Not an elite back, but a steady one.
Big thing is Schotty feels highly of him.

This is what the coaches think of Malik Davis. It also shows what the nfl thinks of him. No other team has shown interest.
