How many of you die-hard fans take an interest in reliving our classic heart-breakers. I often watch them, but have only hosted our successes on my media website.
I have my reasons for watching them, and was wondering if anyone had similar opinions to mine.
If you do.....why? If you don't....why?
Thanks for replying
I like watching them if only to see how close we came so many times. It is tough to watch them and relive the disappointment all over again but there was always hope back then that we would be back next year.
One of the things that always impressed me about the Cowboys is that they never gave up. Games like the 1966 & 67 NFL Championship games against the Packers showed that we were just as good as that dynasty but just couldn't get some breaks to go our way. There is no logical way that Starr gets across the goalline but he did. The same was true of the 2 SB losses to the Steelers in the 70s. One bounce, one call, one tackle or catch and we win those games. Our teams were so good!
The loss to the 49ERs in the 1994 NFC Championship game really defined Aikman as the team leader IMO as he fought back from an early 21 point deficit and never gave up. He says that was his best game and I agree. People and teams are often defined more by their defeats than by their victories and that has been true of the Cowboys many times.
For every close loss we had a great win to counter it. With 8 SB appearances and 5 wins we take a backseat to no one! How many times have we been the one to knock out the Vikings, Rams, 49ERs, or Packers, for every loss to them we have had our share of wins as well.
The 49ERs beat us twice, 1981 & 1994 but we beat them in 1970, 71, 72, 92, & 93 so I don't mind watching "The Catch" so much knowing that it was their first win against us in 4 tries. Also, we had a chance AFTER Clark's catch to win in but came up a fingernail short (if only Pearson could have broken free...).
So yeah, if you post them, I will watch them and be grateful for the chance.
