I hope Hurd can be Romo's Kelvin Martin this year.

And Austin can be Romo's Alvin Harper this year...

thanks for the recap.....good stuff......disappointed just a little on the Stanback front.
I am not expecting much from Stanback at all this year. This is essentially his rookie season. I look at last season as a you would a redshirt freshman. He wasn't able to participate in training camp last year because of injuries and had to get in where he fit in once the season started. He is getting one on one WR training from the coaches for the first time.

Crayton was a QB rolled over to a receiver. It didn't take him this long.

We didn't hear any good things from the off season stuff.

I'm begining to think Stanback might be lacking mentally a little.

I doubt that. He is smart enough to play QB and read defensive coverages. If Antonio Bryant can play WR, Stanback surely can as well. I doubt he lacks the mental capacity to be a WR. Give him some time to make the transition.

Hurd has pretty good hands, can go up and get the ball and hold on to it. I really like his personality too, and I want to see him make the team.

However, I'm really pulling for Austin to learn how to catch the ball consistently. He offers more of a threat because of his speed. If both Austin and Stanback eventually pan out, we've got some serious speed at the position.

Look how few WRs come in and light it up their first year in the NFL. And those are guys that spent their whole college careers at WR. Now you take Stanback, who only played WR his freshman year, and expect him to be able to crank it out right away? I think its probably correct to consider this his real rookie season.

While it would be great to see Stanback step up this year, I really don't expect to see much from him. Hopefully, he will step up while he's still with us and not some other team, but who knows. He may turn out to be nothing more than just a project though. I hope I'm wrong, but, we've all seen lots of guys with the word "potential" associated with them come and go, hopefully, Stanback will prove to be more than just another one of those.

Miles doesn't have blazing speed.
People in here talk like he is Bob Hayes.
He runs a 4.5.

I'm wondering if we'll even see Stanback active on gamedays. The few games he was last season were for kick return duties and with Austin, Felix, and Adam Jones, Stanback may not even get that opportunity.

Given that he still seems to be such a work-in-progress as a receiver I don't see how the team could have the luxury of having him on the gameday roster.

But, like many other situations, we'll have to see how this plays out during training camp.

I think I see more questions at the receiver positions than most others do.

Maybe it's just me.

He ran a 4.51 at the combine IIRC....but seems faster than that with pads on.

Can't recall which thread I read it in, but I read that Stanback is where Hurd and Austin were in their development last year. He hasn't quite put it altogether. On the one hand, when he knows what he's doing, he looks impressive. When he doesn't, it's brutal.

I wouldn't expect much from him this year. Special teams at most.

Some of the draft places had him as 4.47, including Kiper.

Exactly my thinking. I think some people are trying to compare Stanback's situation to Patrick Crayton. Crayton was able to come in and contribute right away, but he didn't have the people ahead of him like Stanback does, and Crayton also participated in training camp his rookie season which made him more prepared. Stankback missed that due to his injury and that set him back a year. Be patient....Stanback will get his chance to show what he can do....just not this year.

I have been wondering about game day too. Last year in most games we only activated 4 WRs. If you throw TG into the mix that would mean less time for Stanback. Another question is his health. Can he stay healthy.

I agree, WG. It sounds like Stanback is behind Hurd and Austin.
