I hope he gets a deal if price is nice. No way Dallas can go into season with Matt Johnson as Safety.

this is the "waiting for things to fall into place" mentality and i like it for this year as well.

people scream if you over pay.
people whine if you wait.
people cry if you dont sign the right guy.

yet we are just waiting and picking our pieces. a good offseason so far.

How can they prefer someone if they can't sign anyone? Is there something I'm missing here?

Conflicting reports from writers all over the place today

Nick Eatman ‏@nickeatman 2h
Sounds like coaches think Will Allen is a better fit for cowboys defense than michael huff .. Currently have no cash for either .. We'll see

Clarence Hill ‏@clarencehilljr 2m
Allen is a career backup and would be cheaper. Huff has other options. Huff is preferred choice

It makes sense for them to take allen. Me and most of the rest of this board will hate it but it seems they want to draft someone

Front Office always thinks they're smarter than everyone else. Then, they prove themselves wrong every year.

Allen has 9 starts in the last 6 seasons but hey, the Cowboys think he's better. Allen is a decent journeyman, basically defines JAG. Huff is the better player, in any scheme.

If we cut Free now, does this free up cap space? We should let him go anyway. I hate lazy guys like Free.

If we go into next season with Allen as our starting S, look for a repeat of last season's secondary play.

no, thats why they are waitng. seems dumb to let him go over ego when you can wait and gain cap space. good thing the front office uses their head on this thing

I like Huff, but I wish people would stop spewing this stupid line. Huff had a bunch of PDs last season BECAUSE HE WAS PLAYING CORNERBACK. The year before, Huff had 4 PDs. Allen had 3 last season.

This is what they should have said. "The Cowboys much prefer Huff as he is CLEARLY the better player and can make a MUCH larger impact but Allen would be a lot cheaper and the Cowboys are broke due to kicking the can down the road and love "bargains", so they are going to agree on a deal with Allen via a handshake until they can clear up cap room.
