Like I said earlier today

Luis (Santa Maria, CA): Everyone's talking about how Payton had the inside info on the Cowboys. True. But what about Parcell's inside info on Payton's play-calling style. Was parcell's just outcoached?

sn2.gif
Chuck Knox, Jr.: (12:29 PM ET ) Luis Payton ran Parcells offense when he was at Dallas not his own.

Like I've said before we let the wrong coach go.

We should have kept Payton and let Parcells walk.

I think it just means that the idea that we somehow "Know Payton's weaknesses in playcalling" is just a silly theory from the get go. The guy has a brand new team and more freedom than he ever had in Dallas. He is calling his own plays with his own personel, to which we have limited knowledge of. On the flip side he knows of our playbook and most of our personel.

In a nutshell:

His knowledge of our team > Our knowledge of his

and it showed big time...

touche. I remember at the time though, people really didn't care if Payton stayed or left.

I remember arguing with Raiders fans right before the Super Bowl with Tampa Bay that Gruden knows the Raiders organization and their scheme. These fans retorted that the Raiders know Gruden's tendancies too, but I said it's not the same. It is easier to implement your own system and add different wrinkles based on different talent than it is to be in an existing organization and revamping that organization's scheme.

They tried to argue me down. But the final score supported my theory.

I think the same applies here. The Cowboys have spent three years trying to implement the 3-4 with some of the same key players, players Payton is familiar with. He knows where the holes are in our coverage. He knows we can't cover the backs well in the flats.

If the Cowboys meet up with the Saints, they must develop more wrinkles to offset Payton's knowledge of our scheme and talent.

Funny how that works. Even funnier how many "fans" suddenly appear on these forums after a loss to tell us he's a bum.:)

True on Gruden... as for Payton he did out coach the Tuna! BP watched as our KO return team lined up on the 35 week after week!

Payton was studying the details while BP was giving Championship speeches in December.... someone tell BILL the SB is in February!!!

I hear where you're coming from sandtrapp, but BP was so outcoached in the NO game he should be totally embarrassed. That was pitiful. To claim anything else is just wrong.
