but what happened tonight IMO, was exactly what I was worried about. The Commanders were due. The law of averages took over.
We have beat the Skins just like they beat us tonight several times over the streak. At some point or another they where going to get us.
Tonight they did. It sucks, but stop jumping off bridges and throwing players and coaches under the bus.
First, the playcalling offensively was very good for the most part. Yes, there where a couple of things that probably should have been called different, but it was a good plan.
Bledsoe stayed clean the whole game, and was very efficent. No he was not bombs away, but he had a good plan around him tonight against that defense.
The problem was we could not run the damn ball. I give them credit for that.
The offensive playcalling had us with a 13 point lead with 5 minutes left in the game. I will take that every week. You call the game based on the way the game is going, and I am sorry but nobody in this country thought the Commanders could score 14 points in 5 minutes, no way.
As far as the refs, yes they missed 3 crucial calls IMO, but it happens, you have to overcome that, and really it should have never mattered. We had this game won.
We just broke down defensively and allowed the unthinkable. How the heck could that happen? I would say in retrospect we should have done something else, but what it comes down to is they made a couple of great plays.
Those where 2 awesome throws, and they got us.
This was a game of the law of averages coming into play.
Parcells was 77-0 when leading by 13.
The Skins lost 25 straight games when trailing into the 4th.
We had won 14 of 15.
They had not won since 1995 in Dallas.
It was all just due.
Aaron Glenn and Roy Williams are not bad players, they got beat. It is the NFL and it happens.
We have been on the positive side of these kind of games for a long time. Washington 3 times I can think of, Monday night vs. the NY Giants, Monday Night against Seattle, against Carolina.
Well it finally happened to us. It is one game and many things where due to go the other way, and they did tonight.
Yes it hurts, we should have won it, but sometimes you just have to give the other team credit instead of throwing everyone under the bus.
As much as this game hurts, I saw a lot of things I was very happy about tonight.
Yes, we broke down defensively at the end, but I saw a lot of things on that side of the ball I liked. Especially some of the young guys.
The O-Line played great. Bledsoe looked very good for the most part.
Special teams played very good, which I was really worried about.
Everything pointed to a win in regards to how we played, even the playcalling.
All I can do is give them credit for making 2 great plays.
Man that hurts!
