Choosing the right loaf of bread at the grocery story has always been hit or miss. Sometimes the bread is soft like is is just out of the oven and other times it is hard and stale like it has been there for weeks. Earlier today I got an email from a friend about finding the most recent loaf of bread added to the shelve and decided to put it into use. The email is correct. I asked the store guy at Publix who confirmed it.

If bread has a blue twist on it, It was baked on Monday.
If it has a green twist on it, it was baked on Tuesday.
If it has a red twist on it, it was baked on Thursday.
If it has a white twist, it was baked on Friday, and a yellow twist if it was baked on Saturday.

I thought all breads had a white twist on them. I was wrong. Today I dug thru the bread aisle and found all the colors on the same and different breads and picked out a white twisted loaf as it was the most recent color of Friday. Sure enough, I get home- made a sandwhich and the bread was soft as could be.

The colors are in alphabetical order. blue, green, red, white, yellow...starting with Monday. I will never buy an old loaf of bread again.

The moral of the story is, it is never too late to lurn sumtin and I will never buy an old loaf of bread again. :)

Funny I just looked in my bread drawer, where I have two loaves of Maiers bread and lo and behold, one has a red twist, which my wife bought on Thursday and the other a white twist from some time a week or so ago...

Now I know, thanks. :D

Great information FloridaRob. I'm going to put that on the back of a business card and keep it my wallet.
