I like Dez

No he doesn't have to have those kinds of stats, but is catching a ball that hits him between the numbers, or running the right route, or making the adjustment that your QB tells you to make because you are too stupid to see it in the first place too much to ask?

This was being said this time last year, and will probably be said next year, maybe the year after.

Just because your post is negative doesn't make it erroneous. I think your post was spot on.

I agree he has his shortcomings, but I have seen improvement. And if you gave up on every WR who made the mistakes Dez does you would have to give up on most of the wideouts in the NFL. Did you see Mike Wallace the other night?

People tend to lump "character issues" into one big group. People are complicated. Dez wants to do well. Dez works hard. Dez is ambitious and passionate.

There's a lot to like about him as a person and a player. And a few things he needs to grow beyond. Nothing like money and approval to keep someone from growing up, unfortunately.

I like Dez.

I don't like him. In fact, he's the player I like least on the team because of how good he could be and how far he falls short of it of his own doing.

I have little tolerance for high maintenance players. Even less so when the production isn't there.

And when Dez is making pro bowls and setting records, all of these negative nancies will be proclaiming that they were always behind and knew he would be great.

Aside from Romo, Witten, Ware, and Lee, Dez is my favorite player. A friend of mine knows him and plays basketball with him in the offseason and says he is a really nice and polite kid. The crap he has gotten in trouble for... not paying his bills, wearing his pants too low, and slapping his mother with a ball cap allegedly because she brought drugs into the house he was in??/ Which could have completely ruined his entire career????.... She was never a mother. Nothing close to a role model. and a crackhead prostitute who had dez when she was 14.... He shouldnt have any animosity towards her? She probably deserved more than a slap with a ball cap. Everything is blown way out of proportion.

On the field, he is a difference maker and teams focus time on trying to stop him. He opens up Miles and Witten as much as they open up things for him. He's a hard worker. Is he einstein.. probably not. But where would you be if you were raised how he was... if you were dealth the deck of cards he was dealt. I'll tell you where youd be... dead or in prison... He's done real good and he's working on being better. it's all you can ask.

If the Cowboys ever decide that enough is enough with Dez and let him hit the market the majority of the league would put in an inquiry with his agent and take him with his flaws and all.

Yep, every team knows you have to compensate for Dez every play and they'd all love to have him.

I'm not sure any team would love to have him and his immaturity issues. Dez is a great talent, but he is not all there mentally and he's very inconsistent. You have no idea what you're going to get week to week. One game he's great the next he disappears. It's very frustrating to say the least because if he could just mentally focus and forget about all the other non sense he could be a great football player. An all time great like the other guys who have previously worn #88. Dez has yet to live up to that number. I really wish Irvin would work with him. I really believe he would help Dez and make him a better football player. Dez is no scrub like some say he is. He's a very good football player, but he should be better than very good. He should be great, the best in the league, and he can be, but consistency is just something he has yet to establish.

Listen you can have all the physical talent and potential in the world like Dez has, but if you can't show up on a consistent basis and be a reliable weapon for your quarterback it doesn't matter how talented you are. Dez just has to start producing at a high level every week or he'll just be another great talent who failed to live up to his expectations. We used a first round pick on him so he should've already been that #1 guy for us and he just hasn't. Dez needs to grow up and start to live up to the high expectations that have been set for hom and he needs to do it fast or his days as a Dallas Cowboy are numbered. I'll be rooting for Dez because he's one of my favorite players. I truly wish he does live up to his potential. I'd hate too see him just be another guy who's great potential didn't come to fruition.

He can't even learn more than 3-4 plays...still. it's all good that he is passionate and whatnot, but none of that matters if he doesn't know What the hell is going on. Honestly, IMO, he is far behind where he is supposed to be ESPECIALLY with all the hype that surrounds him. He is in his 3rd year, where according to Landry, the lighbulb should be on by now.
