Good point. True about Norton .. his eventually development (along with a much stronger surrounding support cast
and quality coaching) made a huge impact for him.

But notice how we did not stop to wait on Norton Jr. .. we still added LB players such as
Darrin Smith Jr in the 2nd rd ... Robert Jones Jr. in 1st round .... Dixon Edwards in 2nd rd.

Maybe you're right about "eventually' developing into such a Norton like player.
But I'm not close to thinking of waiting on him.
The motion is already in line with Overshown (albeit ACL) ,.. we goofed big time on re-signing LVE,
Bell is a mere 200 lb converted safety and perhaps Evans has flaws that are not trusted enuff for bigger impact time.
I looked at couple of draftable LBs (today). I agree Dallas draft a LB and sign a UFA. Nothing gets the best out of players like competition

He has been ok, especially for a 5th rounder
ironically a LB that was said to be on Cowboys radar list around that time of the 2019 draft class
was a 5th rounder named Dre Greenlaw who went to the Niners in that round.

Pre-draft , another Niners LB that was said to be on Cowboys supposed radar was Fred Warner ..but albeit we drafted LVE in
the first round in the same year in 2018, so that likely knock the value & need for Warner off the Cowboys board

At this point Marcus ware was judged as inferior to Shawn merryman. I’ll watch a couple of seasons of a guy playing full time to judge. He’s playing decent now and better than he was to begin the season. Hopefully he’s better to start next year and gets better as he plays more games
Marcus wasn't judged as inferior, more like he was judged as more raw. However, he possessed the skillset to dominate.

Warner was on my radar. If the search feature didn’t suck now I’d show receipts.

Either way, we need an influx of talent at the position.

I blame Quinn....sure seems like they move him around quite a bit...and put him in some really bad match ups. I get it...you want to move Parsons around so teams can't key on him....but you gotta remember....that effects other players too.

Parsons basically hasn't studied in an LB room since 2019. At this point, he'd be zero read at MLB and all react, which would just make him an ineffective player.
.
Are you sure that they stopped training Parsons at LB?
Can't say that I'd be shocked, but I had taken for granted that they had done the sane thing.

But against the run he'd probably still be our best MLB, and Armstrong would be a better DE.

Keep in mind he was the 176th player taken making him a late 5th rounder (4 picks away from being a 6th rounder) last year.

The chances of him making the 53 was below 5%. He did and is now starting and getting significant snaps.

How many players drafted that late are teams hoping to find impact players? Very very few. In fact it's rare.
Getting significant snaps doesn't mean an impact player. But I get your point. Dallas needs impact players on defense. Versus hoping a player becomes one. Dallas is sometimes to cute in the way they draft. Get a impact player versus one you think would of gone higher minus an injury.

Clark is as useless as tits on a boar. He sucks.

For some reason our FO is enamored with hurt linebackers. LVE, Jaylon, Clark.

They love them.
