and these are tough times! I just left the bar after being attacked by a Giants Fan and a Bills Fan. I'm sitting there having a drink minding my business, when they start bagging on the NY Jets. So I chirp in and say the Jets have the best team in NY right now. Bad move. They grilled on the Jets being overated and how Sanchez will falter. I said hey look they have a great defense and I'm not a Jets fan so don't worry. They asked me who my team was I tell them the Cowboys. All hell breaks loose. They say Eli is 2x Romo, we have no receivers, our secondary sucks our coach is a fruitcake and we miss T.O. I respond by asking them if they work for ESPN and go on to defend Romo and RW, the young secondary, etc. With hate and passion they are grilling me about how the cowboys are not on the radar and I don't know anything about football!! This gets heated. I responded to the bills fan that he was still upset about 92, 93 AND told the Giants fan their superbowl win was a result of great defense but their coordinator has left and so has Strahan. They just got madder. I thought there was going to be a brawl.
The Giants Fan goes back to we have not won a playoff game in 9 years and that Romo has not done anything! These guys are ESPN word for word. So I told them Romo was in his 3rd full year and Elway did not win until his 15th what's your point! Giants fan gets up in my face and says the point is your team know how to lose when it counts. I say whatever, pay my bill and leave. The sad thing is he was right and it needs to change because this is BS! The Cowboys need to get into the playoffs and get a win!

One of the funniest things I see is a Giants or Jets fan who is from Buffalo try to talk to a Giants or Jets fan who is actually from NYC area and the NYC area guy treats the Buffalo area Jets/Giants fan like a piece of crap. They eat their own.

As far as Bills fans, hold up 4 fingers and make an L with your other hand...that shuts them up pretty quick.

I should have held up the 4 fingers and made they L, that would have been sweet. These are the cockiest fans I have ever seen (Giants and Bills). They believe they have the best teams in the league or they want to fight! I hope they eat their words!

More like parroting Mike Francesa. He has been "unimpressed" with the one dimensional tight-end oriented Cowboys offense since Monday. Everything these bar fans said is basically WFAN verbatum. Funny thing is, most of the football fights that I've gotten into in NYC bars have been with Philly or Washington transplants, who populate the sports bars on weekends.

I remeber the Giant hubris last season - they were among the 3-4 "elite" teams in the NFL and the Superbowl was theirs to lose. Same thing this year with a little Jet February showdown subtext added.

Being a Cowboys in NYC is tough. Take solace in the fact that there are literally hundreds of thousands maybe millions of Cowboys fans in the Tri state area. A lot of my friends who I grew up with know I am a Cowboys fan and who themselves are Giants/Jets fans. The lesson to be learned here is to go to the sports bars with friends who will back you up if stupid drunk Giants/Bills/Jets fans berate you for being a Cowboys fan. They most likely are products of the NY public school system which isnt saying much.

You did the right thing. Defend your team and don't stoop to their levels. I'm used to dealing with it. I'm a Cowboys fan from Jersey. I like 10 minutes from Giants Stadium. I absolutely hate the Giants. Watching them beat the Patriots in the Super Bowl was the worst sports moment of my life.

I've just come to deal with the fact that Giants fans have no class.
