I have been a Cowboy fan since I was a little kid. First NFL game I ever saw was when the Boys beat the Broncos in the Super Bowl. We had just arrived in Dallas from Woomera, Australia and we were visiting family en route to our new home. The whole family was going crazy with joy during the game and I remember feeling really happy about the whole affair. From that day forth I was a Cowboy fan for life.

Even though I think it was dumb to draft Spencer when we needed a CB I am still going to root for my team. I still go into every game looking forward to a win. It doesn't matter who is hurt or who is starting. It doesn't matter who we are playing. They are the DALLAS COWBOYS and I will always cheer for them and expect a W.

Too much doom and gloom in here. The season is coming! Put out the positive vibes and focus on the fact that our positives outweigh our negatives and these guys are going to kick some ***!

I can't believe you watched the first game that I ever watched too. That's weird... Anyways, I like the team to, and about Spencer, I'm glad we drafted him after seeing our pathetic pass-rush last year, this area has to be fixed before going outside. My philosophy is, start with up-front on both sides, and venture out from there.

Good post.

Well, I'm of the opinion that Carp would make a good pass rusher if he had a chance to actually play OLB for an uninterrupted period of time. He has the physical tools, just needs to practice. I'd rather have Carp at OLB and a 1st round CB than Spencer out there (with Carp on the bench) and some 7th rd CB trying to get it done. Just my opinion.

My first game was the first Cowboys-Steelers SB, and even though they lost, the heart they showed till the very end sold me. I've loved the team ever since.

For whatever reason, Wade nor Parcells will let Carp loose and I wish I knew why. Obviously someone in the organization must have had concerns for them to go out and draft a position we were semi-loaded in.

Now for me personally, I would've at least tried to get something in FA earlier on this year, and they did try to address it, although late round corners are iffy.

But really, I think it was a gamble on the organizations part, hoping no serious injuries would hit our corner-back rotation. Meanwhile; I do believe that the organization believes that you build up front first, and even if your secondary is suspect, you can cover that up a whole lot more than the lack of a pass rush.

BP didn't because he loves old guys and let Ellis man the spot. Wade comes in and during the draft they were all giddy over a 'great pass rusher'. Yeah, well, that's only 1/3 of the position's duties.

awesome post, i wish i would have been around for that...my first game was the '94 nfc championship....my moms a browns fan, my old man is a packers fan...i chose the boys cause, well....i loved micheal irvin and i thought our uni's were sharp...not to mention all my classmates and freinds loved the 49ers, raiders, or the seahawks(i'm in the northwest)....i wanted to be my own person.

i remember having a bet going for like $5 on the cowboys....i was only 10, lol.

i actually cried after that game, paid the money, and took alot of crap at school...daily.

only sb i ever watched us in(live) was sb XXX, and i was running around like crazy, screaming, laughing, shouting(got $10 for that one, lol, one guy that liked to make fun of me was a steelers fan).

even though i got tapes from someone of all the early 90's games...the best was when we knocked off the undefeated skins(91...i think?)....watched that over 30 times by now, i'm sure.

anyways....now i'm 22 and will be a boys fan till i'm gone...all you guys and girls that got to see those games, your lucky:)

anyway, here's to a good game tonight, and no injuries for either team.....but i hope we shut AD down(BSU fan to).

keep the faith guys, glad to be part of the cowboys family....we have the best fans....i'm happy to be one of them.

mat.

Whew! Usually when a thread starts out with "I love this team" it is usually followed by a "but". Then the poster usually ends up looking like a horses "butt". I'm glad I read this thread, because it wasn't what I was expecting. Good job Tass!

BTW, is your wife home form duty yet?

Nope, not yet. Should be soon, though since they told us not to send anymore mail after Sep 10th. I have my fingers crossed!

Great post! I wish I could have been around for those earlier games, but I'm only 21. I really can't remember the 1st game I saw because I watched a few in the '92 Championship season, but I didn't watch the full games. I was like 6. But I do vividly remember, as a year 6 old, the Cowboys destroying the Bills in the Super Bowl. I remember sitting on the floor right infront of the TV, so amazed and from then I was hooked. I made my parents by me hats and by the mid 90's, I looked forward to Christmas because that meant a new Cowboys jersey.

So the '92 SB was the first full game I watched.

God bless America, America's Team, and American's Fans!
