I love Verizon

I have owned all most every Motorola Droid that has been released, and for some reason, I seem to have no luck with any of them. All of them had to be replaced by warranty at one point.

I've had the Droid, Droid X, Droid X2, and the Droid Razar. Well Monday, my Razar started running really slow, and lagging really bad. Can't receive calls, make calls, or even text. The thing I noticed was the night before (Sunday), my phone updated about 20 Apps, and that's when the problem started. I went through and deleted alot of the stuff I don't need, but the phone still isn't running right.

So I called Verizon, and the tech support rep noticed all the troubles I've been having with Motorola phones. Instead of sending my another Razar, he sent my the Samsung Galaxy S3, and told me to give it a try and see what I thought.

I received the phone yesterday, but there was no battery or back cover for the phone!!! (it was a warranty replacement "like new phone") I'm Supposed receive the rest of the parts tomorrow!

Well, sorry for my long story, my question for you guys and gals is, who here owns a Samsung, and what do you think of it?

I searched the forum, but really couldn't find much about it.

Reviews online seem to be good, and everyone seems to like. Only complaint I see is the plastic feel of the phone.

So thanks for reading my post, and hope to hear some feedback!

Samsungs are my favorite phones! Verizon is supposed to be good but they dont have unlimited data just like at&t so that doesnt work for me at all. They said 2 gigs will last all month easy. I didnt even use it half as much as i wanted to and i would always get a text from at&t half way through the month that i was over. Why have a smartphone if you cant use the internet often??

The Galaxy S3 is probably the best android phone on the market right now. I don't know of anyone that doesn't love their S3.

Awesome! Like I said, I read a lot of good things about it. I was really excited to try it out yesterday, but with no battery, that was kind of hard to do.

I wasn't even thinking about the Galaxy S3, the rep mentioned it, and I thought what the hell, why not.

I hope so. It was this phone, or the Iphone 4s. My wife has that phone, and she loves it, but I like the things you can do with the Android system.

Not that I'm any expert, but I don't like my Sprint Motorola phone as much as the HTC I had before, despite it having better specs in just about every area. It's very quirky and at times buggy. I won't be getting another Moto when it's time for another phone. (My dad has had similar issues with his Verizon Droid Razor.)

Have had many Samsung phones in the past with pretty good results.

What did he do to fix those problems?

I have the Droid Razr and haven't had any problems with it, but I will say the Galaxy S3 is the better phone. You will notice the difference in screen clarity as soon as you are able to turn it on.

BTW, I can almost guarantee that one of your installed apps was the problem, not the Razr. When the app was updated, some configuration was probably clashing with another app, causing your phone to slow. Keep in mind that most of these apps are from third party company and it is impossible to test the compatibility for every phone and every app that is out there on the market. So just be careful what apps you install (I used to do tech support at verizon and t-mobile).

I have the S3 and so do all of my technicians and my bosses. We are like 4th grade kids with these things.

Giggity little phone......best phone I have had by far and I usually go through 3-4 a year.

I have the Samsung Galaxy Nexus and love it. Samsung is the way to go if your getting an Android phone.

I recently rooted my phone (like I have done with my previous Androids, Droid 1 & Thunderbolt) and it runs faster with a little better battery life.

Nothing, he just lives with it (as have I). Keep in mind it's nothing too terrible, just occasional random things like the screen not working or the phone going to sleep before it should.

I've been thinking about going the Galaxy Nexus - T Mobile Monthly 4g route myself for similar reasons.

I just can't get a clear answer on how good T-Mobile's signal is in North Houston. My OG Razr got decent cell reception but I never used data on it.

I literally just straight up cancelled my contract with Sprint and went to Verizon for better coverage and to nick that Samsung Galaxy 3. I love BOTH so far! It's nice to have a phone that youtube actually works quite well on. Sprint sucks, and I am ashamed that I was with them for so long. I also like how you can take a screen print just by swiping the side of your palm across the screen from right to left. Awesome.

How do I root my phone?

I can probably look it up, but you might be able to explain that more easily. I have the Galaxy S3.

Thanks for the info! I was using an app called beautiful widgets, and I think that's what was giving me the problems.

It use to be good many many years ago but I been on Verizon about 3 years now. My Blackberry back in the day use to work fine. I will probably go back to T-Mobile will be my better value and they are in the process of upgrading their network thanks to the AT&T cash infusion. I worry about coverage when I travel but at this point Verizon is just to cost prohibitive even with a 22% discount.

Here is a link about a recent purchase for upgrade

I miss the simplicity of iOS and the iPod like features, plus easier podcast access. :(. The S3 is a better phone with more functionality, but I think iPhones are just my cup of tea. Too bad i'm locked in for 2 years :laugh2: maybe if I pay to void my contract $250 and then signup again and get the phone for $200 I can recover my funds by selling the S3 and the old iPhone 4... Atleast it will come close... Trying to plot to get a iPhone 5 without paying $600.

I opted for the S3 to save my unlimited... Last month I hit 5GB, which is low for me since I use spotify to stream music instead of buying songs now. So I guess I have to go to sprint.

There seems to be a different way for each phone. I haven't look into the S3 but I can give you a good link.

That link has everything you need to root it. It may look like a daunting task but my first time rooting wasn't that hard. While there is always a chance you can mess up big time and "brick" your phone, I have found out it's pretty hard. I messed up a couple times and it didn't do any damage.

If you do end up trying to root your phone, I'd suggest finding a video showing you step by step to do it.

It obviously voids your warranty but with some phones you can "unroot" it as well. Although, i believe some phones started implementing some kind of software that shows if the phone has been rooted and then unrooted.
