He used to hang out at the Stonleigh P and sit at the bar right on the corner near the restrooms in the pool table area.

He always had time for fans and was a genuinely nice guy. Sometimes he would shoot a game or two of pool with you.

Great player... great guy...

Know what, today at lunch we went to deliman, local dallas eatery, great place. Cowboys hang out there and its a cowboys fans paradise. They showed the superbowl XIII where we beat Denver 27-10. Ole Harvey was up to his usual creating havoc in denvers backfield. It was awesome. I was with another cowboys fan that was not even born when that game was played. Ah, it was really sweet, watching Roger and Tony and Drew pearson, preston pearson, Billy Joe Dupree. Too Tall, Randy White, Harris and Waters, I mean that team was stacked. Ole Tom in his hat on the sideline.

I loved Harvey Martin too. That Defense, DOOMSDAY, was awesome.
One correction, we beat Denver in XII, lost to Pittsburgh in XIII.

There's a bowling alley here in Tucson that had a banner that proclaimed Dallas the XIII Champion. I tried to buy it for 5 bucks. The owner was going to sell it to me until someone told him why I wanted it. I've always wondered if it was worth anything. I didn't get it of course.

Am I the only one who thinks Martin should be in the Ring of Honor? I know Pearson, Too Tall, and others get a lot of attention, but I don't understand why Harvey Martin doesn't get more love for the honor.

No. Jerry's failure to recognize the greats of our past annoys the hell out of me and it hurts their HOF chances I think. I've heard the argument "_____________ isn't even in the Cowboys' Ring of Honor."

I was introduced to DeVincent Martin at a charity event two or three years ago.

Talk about a guy who's a reflection of his father. Huge smile, vice-grip handshake, and hearty, easy laugh.

Even though we'd just met, we sat for an hour at a table by ourself and first talked about is dad and mom, then growing up in Dallas and people/places we had in common.

He at the time was chairing the newly started Harvey Martin Memorial Foundation. They quietly assist cancer sufferers, single parent families and help ppl fight substance abuse.
