I miss Erik Williams...

1994 the stars were just against us. everything that could go wrong did.

I miss that entire 1992-1996 O-line!
The depth was insane.

1992: Mark Tuinei, Nate Newton, Mark Stepnoski, John Gesek, Erik Williams.

Backups: Frank Cournish Jr., Kevin Gogan.

1993: Mark Tuinei, Nate Newton, John Gesek, Kevin Gogan, Erik Williams.

Backups: Frank Cournish Jr., Mark Stepnoski*-injured.

1994: Mark Tuinei, Nate Newton, Mark Stepnoski, Derek Kennard, Larry Allen.

Backups: George Hegamin, Erik Williams*-injured.

1995: Mark Tuinei, Nate Newton, Ray Donaldson, Larry Allen, Erik Williams.

Backups: Derek Kennard, George Hegamin.

1996: Mark Tuinei, Nate Newton, Ray Donaldson, Larry Allen, Erik Williams.

Backups: George Hegamin, Clay Shiver.

As you can see by 1997 age, free agency defections and poor drafting had caught up to what was in all likelihood the greatest offensive line ever assembled.

I miss Zingers.

he was probably the best OL period in 92 & 93 and preinjury in 94...the guy was as overwhelming as Larry Allen was

imagine how dominating our OL could have been had Big E not hurt his knee in that wreck...he was JUST entering his prime when he had that wreck

They still exist, Hostess bought Dolly Madison and now makes Twinkies and Zingers.

You picked a disgusting picture however, I hate coconuts.

In his prime, best RT ever.
Rayfield Wright is not? Jackie Slater? I'd rank him high but I'd consider these two before him.

Didn't Wright play on the left side?

It always makes me mad when I think of Eric. He had so much talent and was so good- was on his way to the HOF and being mentioned with the best who had ever played -and he basically threw it away.

You know- if Eric had not played again after the accident- he might have had a shot at the HOF; just like Sayers did.

I thought he was like Larry Allen and played a bit of everything.

No, way. He had only played 3+ years before the injury in 1994. A lineman is not going to get the benefit that a running back gets especially in the more modern era.

When he was at his best, I would say he was one of the best ever. He did not play at that level long enough to be considered one of the best ever or HOF worthy.

i'll never forget him pouring gatorade/water all over his head and blowing it out like some freakin killer whale. he has the baddest man in the league for about 4 years. i remember strahan talking about E whipping him and telling him to take his beating like a man.

EW in his prime was much more dominating than those two...both of those guys were very very good, but EW was a real force

I agree , Before the accident Williams put the fear of GOd in his opponents , not many linemen did that..

I would take Eric Willilams pre accident any day over any other right tackle...

I remember when he jack hammered (as John Madden put it) William Fuller .
just gave him a couple shots on top of his helmet and pounded him into the ground..Loved it..

I dont think Big E got lazy after the accident he jusrt did damage to his legs and the agility was gone.
He had to resort to throwing his body at guys legs because he couldnt get to them any more and these were guys he used to get to and punish..

It must have been hard on him to be the toughest S.O.B in the NFL and then get so helpless..

I own one autograph and it is Eric Williams..

I didn't realize he evangelized between snaps, Reggie White should've loved him then instead of griping about him;).

I remember him breaking the leg of that Olympic shotputter who played for the Niners. Happened in the '93 championship game.
