I would too! Lockett is more complete. But on the flip side Metcalf has a bigger catch radius and that fits perfect for Dak.

That said, a veteran presence in the locker room over some other options is not horrible. Plus he can run every route anyone could dream up. Not as fast as he used to be, but has the knowledge to be highly effective. Super smart, high effort guy.

Bro, Tyler Lockett just got a new 4 year contract extension last year where he's averaging $17.2 mil/season. His 2021 & 2022 contract seasons are fully guaranteed. Plus, Lockett is about to turn 30 in September. I seriously doubt the Cowboys would want to trade for a soon-to-be 30 year old WR whose contract guarantees him over $17 mil/season. It's just not going to happen.

Is Lockett an FA? That wouldn't be a bad pickup. But the Cowboys are saving all of this cap space for a reason. Not for players. But to absorb Dak's 50M cap hit next year. I don't think they'll let it ride at 50M, but I don't think they'll push much more forward. At best I think Dak will be a 40M cap hit next year. That's what all of this extra cap space is for. Because other than Dak, no one else is coming up to be a big cap hit.

If you're going to be smug, at least be right. They can both be signed to top money next year and have minimal impact on the cap. Roughly 1/5 of their signing bonus. This is not complicated stuff.
