I really liked Garrett's offensive gameplan vs the Saints *Merge*

I have to admit, he really had me guessing whether it was a running or passing play before the snap.

He used the 1st quarter to set up the run with the lead draw, and then in the 2nd half, just when you were sure Garrett was going to keep using it, he started passing off it.

I also liked how we're using F Jones and Barber now.

Also, I'm glad we took a couple shots down field vs the Saints. With Austin getting the TD, and with R Williams getting the PI call against him.

I thought the SD Chargers did that very well against us the week before.

It was like night and day.

He called a game that allowed us to go out and TAKE the game.

If he calls plays like that then we are going to be toooouuggghhh to stop.

That's what I thought as well.

Garrett called a much more aggressive game. Esp. that last drive where Folk missed the chip FG attempt.

The OL played better as a unit. There were still a few breakdowns vs the blitz, but there werent any drive killing penalties and false starts in bad situations that have plagued us for alot of the season either.

The other key was how well play action worked last night. The Saints bit really hard on virtually every play action pass we tried.

Well you know it is a bit easier to call plays when your team is not shooting themselfs in the foot. Cowboys came out of the gate executing each play which allows you to start putting plays together.

The thing is though he has never been that deceptive.

Last night it didn't matter. We even took shots deep down field.

We saw Felix get a big bulk of carries.

Ogletree and Hurd got in the game.

Bootlegs, playactions, screens.

He got away from the Vanilla and I loved it.

Again my feeling is you can do a lot more and open up the playbook more when you are dealing with reasonable downs and distance instead of trying to over come negitive plays. I think there are many things Garrett would like to do but it becomes very difficults when players are failing to execute.

What you just stated had alot to do with this team winning an all important game last night. The players made enough plays to allow themselves to be put in successful situations.

Great play calling, he never showed any emotion which I loved.

He didn't even smile til the win was in the books, great personality for a head coach, he didn't care what happened the last play, the next was the most important of the game.

If he keeps going like that, he would make an elite Head Coach. (Im still a Wade supporter)

I dropped my jaw at the pass fake -draw fake- then passed it.I never saw that one before and it froze the defense until the pattern developed. Way to go JG.

Exactly, it is hard to setup plays when the plays before are not executed or being called back. Dallas has come out running before and we have tried to mix in the pass along with it but then we have a neg play or a penalty that puts us in a hole and limits what you can do in the playbook. When we execute Garrett is able to string together a series of plays

Ditto. In spite of all the grief he gets from some fans, I think he is a great coach and has the right mentality to be a great head coach. I hope we stick with him when Wade is gone.

This guy has been frustrating us with his decisions all season.

Other than our last redzone sequence (a little too conservative, magnified by Folk's missed fg) I think he called the perfect game.

We saw a very good mix of run/pass. That first drive was beautiful. A good amount of play action all game combined with a physical running game kept the Saints guessing, and Gregg Williams looked very frustrated.

Everything we have been screaming for finally came to fruition. We threw the bomb to Austin. Felix got a good amount of touches (was that a swing pass!?). Dallas actually had a screen pass work for once. Ogletree got his chances, our line really seemed to control their D quite easily. It goes on and on.

Most of all, we kept the ball away from Brees and if Folk wasn't such a thin skinned wuss, the game would have never been in doubt.

I think they made us punt twice (?). I hope we face the Saints in the playoffs (if we make it that far!) because I think their D doesn't want to see our O again.

The problem is he has never called his games like that.

If the playcalling was like that every week than the Garrett hate would be wayyyyy down.

I think he got a close up look of Norvs blueprint last week and decided to go more of that route instead of being ultra conservative.

That was a beautifully executed gameplan and the tempo in which they ran it with was most impressive.

That and it allows for the playcaller as well as the players to get into a rhythym. When you get penalties or negative plays all to often it's hard to establish any rhythym.

I am believer even without the last night's game. Unlike some fickle fans, who turn on the dime, I have thought Garrett will one day be a good HC. Don't know he will be great one or not, since you never know till they become one. Same with Sparano, who I have heard few times on Radio and thought he can be a good HC. HE seems to headed to great Coach categories, if he continues on the path he is.

But if cowboys lose another game, we will see the fire the Garrett calls again from the same suspects. It was the same thing with Zimmer, no matter how much people like me said, Zimmer was a good DC, GROZ folks were out in full force. Its easy to blame coaches when things don't go well. Its a easy cop out, than realizing players are not performing, since you can;t easily replace players.

Very true. I firmly disagree with those who think Garrett does not have a clue I think he has more than a clue as to what he wants to do in terms of playcalling but it only comes about when players are executing and staying in good down and distance situations that allow the playbook to open up more
