I remember a time when preseason was preseason and it didn't mean much. You were lucky to catch a preseason game on TV.

Now we have an over-saturation of coverage for all preseason games. Suddenly the preseason has taking on extra meaning for all the Monday morning Quarterbacks.

Preseason is to evaluate talent and determine who makes the team. It is a chance for the rookies to taste the NFL. It was a chance for NFL veterans to get a few snaps in without a big risk of injury.

All of that is now gone because it has slowly become a must win in preseason as well.

I can really understand why we should move to 18 games ASAP because the average fan already takes it as part of the regular season.

You can no longer get any quality work in during preseason without someone trying to game plan and win. If some teams and coaches are going to game plan for meaningless games then f-it, lets go for real.

It's only a must win preseason to fans who don't know and understand what preseason is all about. I guarantee the coaching staffs around the league don't feel like its a must win situation. They know what the preseason is for, I just wish some fans did also so we wouldn't have some of these ridiculous posts of crying and whinning... It's really amazing!!!

It just kills me how uneducated fans overreact to a poor performance or lose in the preseason. The preseason isn't about winning, it's about evaluating and if you happen to win while doing so then that's great... It's so annoying!!

Yep. They've got 80 athlete's they must analyze and make a decision on. And it had better be right, right? With this crop of guys Dllas has, this pre-season has to be freakin' tough. Whom to play and for how long. Did we give athlete 'X' a fair shake, etc. Can we put him in for this particlar series? What's he really good at?

I'd hate to be a coach for Dallas this pre-season. Especially this pre-season.

Preseason or not Gurode has to pull his head out in pass protection.

As with all things the media adds to the hype of these games completely unnecessarily. I love watching preseason games for watching individual players and seeing who responds, who has a chance to make it and so on. The vibe of the last two preseasons for me has been nothing but media driven "uh oh something is wrong with "insert team here" and do the "insert team here" have a chance to improve after being predicted to go 4-12 this year? Good Lord stop.

Next thing you know...it'll be something stupid like baseball. Preseason records will be used to determine who gets homefield advantage in the superbowl or some crazy garbage like that.

Maybe it shouldn't be called preseason anymore. Calling it a scrimmage or an evaluation game might bring back the recognition that these games mean jack you know what.

I don't think too many care about winning or losing in the preseason.

Watching a team stumble and progress very little, if at all, is probably the main complaint.

on the money. some of these guys don't even know the small amount of the playbook that's being used in the preseason. Felix thought he was getting a hand off on a toss and on 1 play Crayton, Bennett and somebody else(maybe Roy but not sure) was asking questions after Romo already broke the huddle so he had to burn a timeout. Preseason or not that's just pathetic cause all of those guys have been on this team for atleast 2 years.

I understand our Defense running basic formations, and I give them a pass.

OK, the Felix-Romo miscommunication happens - and it's the pre-season. Maybe Felix didn't hear the audible. Whatever. That can be fixed.

Witten is usually a reliable pass catcher. Passes don't typically bounce off his hands. It's the pre-season . . . .

What really gets me is that the OL has been whipped the last 2 games. We're not run blocking or pass blocking well - and the culprits are the 1st teamers.

Sure, I understand that we weren't prepared for CB blitzes. It came as a bit of a surprise. But I'd really like to see the OL handle stunts better. And I'd like to see them be more physical in the run game. This was the same situation vs. the Chargers as well.

IF you want to find out who the true homers on this board is start a thread asking who is NOT concerned about the oline.

I honestly believe that the only thing that may hold the Cowboys back from a Super Bowl birth is the OL.

The rest of the team is stacked.

I just hope that the OL starts moving people, gets more physical, recognizes blitzes/stunts. Again, this isn't a one game thing. The SD game was similar in many respects.

I think better OL play will be the focus going into the Miami game.

The talent is there. They have to start executing.

I think fans really don`t care if the Cowboys win or lose in preseason, they just expect the team to execute simple running and pass plays without making the stupid , bonehead mistakes that a so-called Superbowl contender should make. Yes, the o-line is a major concern. With the exception of Free, nothing has been done to address it. I think most fans are disgusted that such a big problem was not addressed in the off-season. I don`t think it`s over-reacting. Even in preseason , a pro football team should not make the stupid mistakes that were made last night. For those who think the o-line will be okay, don`t get your hopes up . A year older and slower is going to be tough to overcome.
