The running game was really good. McFadden got a little space which allows him to turn on the jets. They tweaked the blocking scheme. Collins has terrific physical ability. Martin seems to be getting past the injury that has slowed him down this season. The Giants probably didn't load up against the run as much as teams did when Weed was the QB.
Cassel did some good things. I'm not sure but a couple of INTs might have been on the WRs or just him and them needing more experience together. He definitely made some throws that Weed couldn't make.
The WRs did some good things. Street's TD was brilliant. Williams and Butler both showed up.
Collins looked good from what I saw from the broadcast view. Martin seems to be past the injury that seemed to cause him to struggle early in the season. Hanna was back with might be part of the improvement in the running game.
C-Mike and Randle didn't do anything stupid.
The offense actually ran a rub-route which is what caused Williams to be wide open for a big gain (IIRC it was 27 yards).
The defense overall was good. Without miscues by the Cowboys offense and Special Teams, the Giants would have struggled to score.
Hardy seems to come up with at hit on the QB at very opportune times.
The defense forced the them to punt multiple times, IIRC.
Byron Jones looks like the real deal. He seemed to be on the field most of the time. Corey White looks decent also.
They did some things to combat the picks plays. They actually had White in a zone with the LBs in zone but seemed to somehow have Claiborne in man. I have discussed early this week how they need to mix things up to combat the pick plays but Claiborne had been confused when they tried that in past years. Well what do you know, they managed to do it on some plays that I noticed without Claiborne having to do anything differently. They did give up one big play that I noticed when White basically played a zone and ended up covering the RB while he released his WR into the middle of the field where the LBs were playing zone. Nevertheless, they at least mixed things up and did have some success with it.
I have not reviewed the game in detail yet, but my impression was that the Cowboys have a lot of talent in almost all positions. This game was much more about making mistakes than lacking talent. I think a couple of the INTs were more about the QB and WRs not being on the same page than just a lack of ability which had been the case with Weed. The defense seems good enough to be in any game if the offense and Special Teams can hold up their end of the deal.
