I still don't know why we let Glover go...

He could have been a force playing mostly the nickel, and he could have helped spell Ferguson...

He wasn't all that overpaid either...

Imagine this line...

Ware - Hatcher - Glover - Ellis

With Burnett and and either Ayodele, James, or Carpenter at linebacker...

And I would have definitely prefered him over Kenyon Coleman...

Glover also could have been in on the rotation at defensive end.

because we didnt need a 7 million dollar backup. By keeping Glover one of our young guys would not have been resigned. So who you giving up roy, witten or james?

and once again, he wasnt a 3-4 NT, or a 4- DE. He was basically of no use for the system, and we needed to devlop our younger players

Money.

That said, I wish we could have kept him around, but he would have been more of a luxury than a necessity.

Well, I noticed Glover slipping anyway. To many times last year he could not got off blocks and pressure in the nickel.
I have watched some of the Rams games this year and I see the same...

He would have been a progress stopper for Ratliff. I've watched a couple of Rams games this year, and he hasn't been a factor at all. For a franchise and owner known for keeping players around long after their expiration date has passed, this looks like a time when Jerry actually had a pretty good sense of timing.

As opposed to Ratliff's 2.0 sacks in just 3 games? ;)

And if it weren't for Vince Young's uncanny ability to escape a sack, he would have had another one last week as was draped all over him.

I liked Glover and would have loved to have kept him but his cap charge for this season was way too much. We wouldn't have been able to make the contract extensions and let Henson go--this season. Glover is on his last legs.

If KC Joyner is to be believed, Glover was the least effective of our major linemen. And that makes some sense, when Glover was best used as a 3 technique DT and we had him 2 gapping.

Letting him go to a 4-3 team that could use him appropriately was probably the best move for both parties.

He was already unhappy, it was a good Cowboy move.

Good teams err on the side of letting players go a year too early rather than a year too late.
