If we didnt trade for Roy Williams I am almost certain as it turned out we would of ended up with Micheal Crabtree. The Jaguars at the 8th pick was looking to trade down in the draft. I beileve it was even reported on ESPN and NFL Network. I really think Jerry would of called the Jags and got a trade done considering how far he fell. They knew that GB wasnt going to take him at 9 but also knew they were sitting pretty with upgrading their defense with either Raji or Orakpo. They werent trading their pick. Everyone knew at 10 he was going to be gone to SF. The only downside is we wouldnt have a 1st round pick next year. It would of cost the 20th and that pick next year. What do you think?

1. Do you think in this scenario Jerry would of pulled it off?
2. If he did would you rather have Crabtree or Williams.
3. Would you of pulled off the trade?

opinions, again just for fun speculating

1. No, I HOPE Jerry Jones wouldn't be that batcrazy.
2. Williams, Crabtree has bust or disappointment at the least stamped on his forehead. That's not to say Roy Williams is much better, but hey he's produced a bit in the league.
3. No.

Jerry would not have been in the desperate position of needing a WR that bad. If you go into the draft with that big a hole you are in trouble. Say what you will about Jerry, but he doesn't usually make that mistake.

I don't think Dallas could have gotten Crabtree moving from where we were to 8. I do think Crabtree is going to be an outstanding WR in the NFL and would love to have been in a position to get him but I think the cost would have been greater than what we gave for RW

Woulda, Coulda, Shoulda, who cares. It didn't happen, and I don't think trading up that high is a good choice.

Lets move on.

I think the real question is about Maclin. As far as he fell, we could have traded up and gotten him for that 3rd we gave up for Roy.

Somehow I'm a little dubious about how good Crabtree will be as a pro. I love the way he attacks the ball, but in the NFL it's a rare player who can excel without outstanding size or speed.

Only thing that bothered me about Maclin was in some big games he did not produce. Crabtree in my view was consistent in his play. He has good speed and strength as well as a knack for making the big play.

If we hadn't traded for Roy, TO would probably still be here, and we wouldn't have traded up that far to get Crabtree with TO here. Maybe Maclin like CL said, but I doubt it.

If we had not traded for Roy then more than likely we would have either signed him as a free agent before the draft or Boldin in a trade.

Then we probably would have traded out of the first round so we could accumulate a record 25 picks in one draft. Or we would have drafted another linebacker that we could watch for 4 years wondering if he will ever show a quarter of the production as DWare.

I would rather have Crab than a 'proven' Roy Williams. And I'd also rather have Crabtree over Owens too.

Dallas is ready to win now not two or three years when Crabtree might, I repeate might be a player. Crabtree has an injury that will probably slow down his progress right now anyway. That is one of the reasons he dropped.

Williams is a player now. Give him a season to learn the playbook, injury free and time to build chemistry with Romo before you judge him.

It was tough coming in trying to learn a new playbook, build chemistry and trust midseason. He should be a good player this year. Maybe not dominant, but good is all Dallas needs from him. Enough to back the safeties off and draw and occasional double team.

Dallas needs to win now they also have to look to the future as well. Dallas was not in a position to get Crabtree even if we don't trade for RW. As for Crabtree I have no doubt this kid will be special
