I think I figured it out - my opinion of course

During the last few days I have been absolutely baffled by some of the rumblings that are coming out of Valley Ranch. After thinking long and hard and reading various different rumors, reports, and opinions, I think I have it all figured out.

Tyron Smith is Dallas' guy...

There was so much talk about Smith to Dallas going on the last few weeks that Jerry and co are starting to get worried that a team may leapfrog Dallas in attempts to snipe Smith from us.

Thus, the smokescreen was let out that Dallas WILL NOT take Smith @9 and not only that but that Dallas actually prefers Solder over Smith. This is all just an attempt to pray that if a team is considering jumping us, hopefully this seed planted into their brains will slow them down somewhat.

It just doesnt make any sense if you really think about it..Jason Garrett made 1 visit during the pro days and it was Tyron Smith's..I'm not believing for one second that Solder was rated above Smith on our board before that visit OR leapfrogged him afterwards..

Plus, you would have to be silly to believe Dallas likes Solder..he flat out does not fit our scheme..Props to NYC because I will admit that I had done close to 0 homework on Solder prior to Mosley, but Solder is 100% positively a better fit in a zone scheme..

Tyron Smith @ 9 BOOK IT

I think if they stay at 9, he's most likely going to be the pick.

I dont think they can move down very far and still get him.

Dallas trades out to 12 or 14 and tyron is still the pick. I really don't like this situation but i do have a feeling this is the plan.

We aren't a smokescreen team. Who we planned to take has always been pretty obvious -- we are not full of surprises.

I honestly think most teams think Smith is a nice player but just didn't see enough on the field.

My guess is that we are moving back - would be OK with Smith but truly like Jordan or Pouncey

I agree with you, they will try their best to drop down into the mid teens.

You are right..and everyone knew that Smith was our guy

We just don't seem to draft OL in the first round, for some reason. I say JJ would like to trade down just a few picks and take his chances with getting Jordan or Prince. We may try to get the best OL in the second round, but who knows. One of the top OL will likely be there at pick 40, but it will likely be a OG, not a tackle.
