for 2011

LT - Free
LG - Kosier (resign him)
C - Gurode (and trade choice for up and coming center)
RG - Davis (Brewster becomes his back up)
RT - Barron (Sam Young is his backup)

* Your starting tackes are young and proven. U have Brewster and Center (via trade) to replace Bigg and Gurode once they start looking like Flozell. The only old guy would be Kosier...and I am ok with that cause he has almost been more of instinctive/intelligent player who u wont notice big physicality drop off like other players like Flozell/Bigg who rely more on that.

Fixed, I guess you mixed Sean Lee and Sam Young ....:D

Why don't they just go lineman heavy in the draft next year. You take a corner in the first, maybe a QB in the middle rounds somewhere, and the rest lineman.

I vote for this one.

Put an investment in a long overdue position group.

A team can have all the weapons you want but if the horses up front don't do their job, it won't matter because you won't be able to use those weapons.

I like Free as the future LT.

Kosier most likely won't be re-signed unless it's a 1 or 2 year deal.

Gurode has a good 3 or 4 years left.

Davis will probably be on the hot seat BIG time if he continues to decline in play. Not sure where Brewster fits; I can see him sliding inside though.

I totally disagree about right tackle. Alex Barron is the complete OPPOSITE of what you want in a right tackle. Barron is not a mauler by any means, but he's very athletic and this is why he's been at LT. Barron is not a very strong player at the point of attack and that's exactly what you need at the RT position. Barron was strictly brought in for LT depth incase Free totally bombed at the position.

I'm all for it if the lineman in the draft is the BPA to us that fits a need. Dallas mistakes in the past was drafting for pure need and it burned us you end up with lesser talent while more talented players end up elsewhere.

Right, Barron is not a good fit at RT. The early reports on Brewster however are pretty good. I want to see Brewster in some preseason games but if he continues to improve over the next 1-2 years I like him as our future RT.

Well son of a gun.... would that mean we're FINALLY starting to hit on our OL draft picks????

They will try again next year for a guard or center in the first round. With Kosier a free agent there is a starting spot begging to be filled with that first round pick.

I second this. I'm just recalling the 3x cb draft of Dwayne Goodrich, Kareem Larimore, and Mario Edwards...ugh...

I do think the Cowboys need to revise the way they rank OL though. From what I've read, we passed on quite a few good linemen because they didn't make our grade for the draft round.

A guard with the first round pick? aint that a little high? A center I could see, but guard might be a little high unless he's a once in a lifetime type player.

Exactly. I want to add more talent to the OL not just add players to the OL.

It depends what pick of the 1st rd? 32 pick in the draft? I would agree I would be reluctant to take a G with a top 10 pick but late pick in the 1st rd? If the talent is there then yes.

It's really too bad we missed out on Max Unger...he would be the perfect fit right now as a backup and future starter.

Yeah, even if he wasn't starting, he'd be the ultimate 6th lineman.

You never know when you're going to take a 2nd round athletic guard as a project and he ends up being the best OL to ever wear the star...Larry Allen.

You can't just say you're going to draft a bunch of offensive linemen next year. The draft is still all about where the quality is for the money. You may go in wanting to pick up a couple, but guys you think can become starters for you have to be there.

I feel pleased that we have some young T's in Free, Barron, and Brewster. We may have to start looking at swingmen: perhaps a C/G type and another guy who is a tackle prospect who could move inside to guard if needed.

We'll definitely be looking more at OG than at the other spots, in my opinion, and that's a lot better for us most years.

Where the Cowboys pick they might have a shot at the best at the position. This past year they liked (17)Iupati and then (18)Pouncey.

From what I am hearing...Brewster is just too big to be tackle and noway he will be able to handle starting edge rushers. That he really needs to move inside where he can occupy space and has decent strength and good feet...could be effective on sweeps/pulls.

Barron looks more like LT but Free will occupy that spot for long time. Dallas got lucky on Barron and he is too good to be just back up. I let him work entire year with Joe Juraszek to get stronger base for playing RT and let Houck work with his footwork. I think Barron could be effective at RT and he has started there before.

I would draft an O lineman in each of the first 3 rds. As long as when our pick came up we had a O lineman still left that we thought deserved that pick in that rd.
