He doesn't care about a consistently good team, a perennial contender.

He's old. He's filthy rich. He's won Super Bowls. He's in the Hall of Fame.

He wants one more moment of glory before he kicks. If it takes 10 more years so be it. He thought it would happen w Romo. He thinks it will happen with Garrett. A wasted season doesn't bother him. A lack of system doesn't bother him. He just wants to "strike gold" one more time like that old miner he refers to. He's like the degenerate gambler who keeps losing money, convinced the big win is inevitable so long as you stay at the table. No real plan, just hope.

if that is all he wants, he should have gone all in with free agents last off season.

Well he struck gold with most Cowboy fans...we’re in it for the long haul...win lose or draw

Worse, I think he's okay if he never strikes gold again. He enjoys playing fantasy football at the highest level. For the reasons you stated, it doesn't matter if he wins.

He doesn't want to hire another Head Coach again
He hitched his wagon to JGarrett.......ride or die

He knows he can still be de facto GM and call the shots

Hope- Gregory lays off the pot
Hope-Jaylon drop foot heals
Hope-Hardy won't be a problem
Hope-Zeke keeps his nose clean
Hope-Numerous journeymen, retreads and washouts find new life in Dallas.

All excuses for Garrett.. play the locker room cancer excuse that doesn’t really exist, get some friends in the media to blow it up and voila..

I agree..he wants to prove Jimmy wrong still..he wants to show the world and most importantly himself that he is a great football mind. Jimmy cut him deep taking credit for those Sulerbowls.
Winning a Super Bowl with Harbaugh, or any football wiz type wouldn’t satisfy Jerry because once again he won’t get credit and he won’t be able to pass on from this world knowing he was what he always wanted to be so badly..a great football mind.

Jerry would rather die trying to do it himself as the GM than win with someone else in charge. It is clear as day. He wants all the credit. Parcells came in here only to get us back on track to sell the idea of building a new stadium. Three straight 5-11 seasons and cities would be hesitant to finance that type of venture. That will be the last time he brings a coach in here that is allowed to do his own thing. He loves Garrett because he won't rock the boat and will stay out of Jerry's way. He's a yes man puppet. And a terrible coach. I think Jerry wants to have him win so he can act like he found a diamond in the rough and molded a Super Bowl winning coach from his days as a backup QB with Dallas.

Those that say Jerry doesn't care about winning are just spewing frustration... I get that.

Jerry cares about winning.

He's just too attached to his players/coaches to make hard decisions that need to be made until the evidence becomes overwhelming that he needs to make a change.

Jason Garrett could be coach here for 30 years and he still wouldn't win anything.
