I think I know where Peterson is going

In my honest opinion, this is how I see the first 4 picks going

Newton
Dareus
Miller
Gabbert

Obviously, it only takes one team to throw a monkey wrench in this and it could change everything. However, let's pretend these are the first 4 picks..How on earth do the Cardinals NOT take Peterson here? Who else is left?

I think that Jerry is going to have to trade up to AZ to get Peterson..it's not impossible but I think that's where we have to go.. I wouldn't be shocked if a 3rd rounder was still enough ammo to move up

We'd have to trade to the 4th pick than and if Cincy wants Gabbert they wouldn't trade the pick to us in fear Arizone may want him.

Then you have to go to pick 3 which is Buffalo. They won't trade the pick either if they want Von Miller in fear Arizona will want him.

So then you have to go to the 2nd pick?

Denver may want Peterson themselves and I don't think they would trade all the way back to 9 in fear they won't get either Dareus, Fairley, Bower's or Peterson by that time.

So it's either Perteson falls to 6 if that's who the organization wants or trade to #1 overall to a Carolina team who really wants Newton, Gabbert or Mallet with their first rounder. Not so sure that's what they want to do either. They may want defense for Rivera and the level of talent for the pick.

They don't take him because they trade with us and we take him :)

I think there is a good chance AZ would move down and acquire more picks rather than taking Peterson..I don't think Peterson is their top choice, however, he will be the BPA in this scenario for them...so, I think they try to trade down here and if they can't, they go Peterson..

Patrick Peterson will be the 5th pick in the draft..whether it's AZ, Dal, or somebody else that moves up to get him

I fear that the 49ers will trade up before we can and take him. Hope it doesn't happen though.

We desperately need Gabbert to go 1, that way Buf can take Newton instead of Miller and AZ can then take Miller...

Really though, I'm not certain it all matters that much..if Peterson falls out of the top 4, which I definitely think happens..Jerry will hop on the phone

What I'd the most you guys are willing to give up for Peterson? What if we call and the third rounder isn't enough?

This is a great question..I was thinking about starting a thread asking the same thing..go ahead and start it..I think a 3rd is my max..

I say he goes to Denver

Carolina - HC - Riveria D minded - Dareous

Denver - HC - Fox D minded - Petersen - no way does Fox let Petersen get by Denver - esp with Champ being 32

Buffalo - Gabbert - the are looking for the next Jim Kelly not the next J Russell

I wouldn't trade up, but if the Cowboys do trade up, I hope it's not for more than a 3rd rounder.

Denver will be petersons spot, period.

People will say Denver just signed champ to a 43 mil contract. Yeah they did and 22 mil is guaranteed. yup, but 18.5 of that guaranteed is being given to him in the first 2 yrs. 11 in 2011 and 7.5 in 2012. Then he's probably released.

Doubt it, too much money for a corner that hasn't played a snap of NFL football.

The Bengals could very well pick Peterson. Mike Lombardi stated (on NFL Network) that the Bengals use a scouting service and use the BPA approach. He stated that Peterson would probably be the highest rated player on their board and gave the Bengals Peterson in a mock. Johnathan Joseph is scheduled to be unrestricted, and Leon Hall's deal is up after this season. The Bengals have 2 first round picks playing CB. Plus, Chad Johnson didn't come out of the first round. They signed Owens, too.

But would it be wrong or just different if the Panthers took LSU cornerback Patrick Peterson with the first pick in the draft? The short answer is this: it wouldn’t be wrong if he’s the best player.

“Why can’t you take a corner first?” Panthers coach Ron Rivera said. “A shutdown corner, or a very, very good corner who can harass the receivers, throw off their timing is important as it is because it’s turning into a passing league. How is he going to impact your defense? Can it also help the offense? There are a few really good ones out there. Does he help our pass rush? Does he help get the ball back and get our offense back on the field?”

Bill Polian of the Colts is one of the best drafters we’ve ever seen, so I asked him what he thought about taking a cornerback first. “I don’t think there isn’t any position that shouldn’t be taken first,” he said. “That pick carries a high price tag with it, so you want to make sure you are getting your money’s worth. So it goes back to take the best player.”

They already have one of the best CB tandems, they'd be making a big mistake letting a guy walk for the sake of money just so they can then draft another guy and pay him MORE without having seen him play a snap of NFL football.

Maybe they don't go WR, but taking a CB seems a bit gratuitous.

Not if they keep that tandem and plug him in at FS.

Considering everything if Peterson or Dareus aren't available at #9 there isn't a more perfect pick for Dallas than Tyron Smith.

yeah, except for the fact that we likely have him rated as more like a mid to late first.

if its a mid first, pull the plug and draft him, im not sold on all this cute stuff and if a team needs a good OL guy they'll take him. All the mock drafts are tossed out the day of the draft, or need we forget the good players that slide that day.

Sorry all the good players wont be taken by the 9th pick and lets face it, Dallas needs to keep Romo uprite, How great was it taking a WR with the first pick and Romo cant throw to him? Pretty good right? Right?

Take the CB or grab the OL but dont get cute, we cant afford it, 09 set us back hard and if we can make something of Smith, grab him at 9 and pay the man and move on past this horrendous bug that keeps coming back and biting us in the butt every year. Every year we try to get cute with the OL men and every yera around playoffs we're screaming "WE NEED A GOOD O LINE"!!!!!!!!!

Be done with it.
