I think in his diluded mind he is mad at the fans for not accepting his sales pitches anymore. He feels that he should be respected because he is the owner, and he thinks he has done enough to earn that respect. In his mind the Cowboys ruled the NFC East during the last eighteen seasons, and he thinks that should be enough. Never mind that the East has been the weakest division in the NFL during that time.
But each time one of the teams from the East rose to greatness, the Cowboys couldn't compete. The Giants won two Super Bowls. The Eagles won two and went to a third. The Commanders are now back at the top, as well.
So I think what you are seeing is Jerry's way of lashing out at the fans to teach them a lesson. No one should dare question his loyalty to Jason Garrett, and how dare fans complain about him giving Dak Prescott the richest contract in NFL history despite proving to be a fake quarterback.
He is signing no name players to one year deals, and refusing to build the team to championship caliber.
Maybe after a year or two of losing fans will be sorry for questioning him and learn to appreciate his greatness and not question him.
Maybe they'll even put a statue of him outside Cowboys stadium next to Tom Landry.

I really don't believe Jerry thinks much about Cowboys fans.

He believes himself smarter than everyone else so fans are likely nothing more than minor annoyances and, even then, only when a reporter mentions them when he's trying to push some new promotion or sales pitch.

Dallas media should keep asking him if he will have any regrets when he is no longer running the team because his lasting legacy will be running a team that did not make it to a Super Bowl in over 30 years.

They won't do it of course, but that's about the only way Jerry would ever get serious about winning because he's still living large off of those 3 Super Bowls Jimmy Johnson won (and yes, I count 1995 as Jimmy's win as well).

I don’t believe Jerry thinks or cares about most Cowboys fans at all.

Now JJ does care about his corporate clients that pay big bucks to advertise with his team. Like AT&T, Miller Lite, Ford Trucks, etc. Those are the only customers he gives a rip about.

Sadly, we the average Cowboys fans do not occupy much space in his care zone. Yes he wants us to buy jerseys and show up at his “stayjum”….which is exactly why IMO we shouldn’t. If no one shows up to TC…he notices. If the stayjum is mostly fans of our opponent, it could embarrass him.

But thinking Jerry is mad at us the average long supporting fan base. I don’t think he cares enough about us to think about it.

Jerry doesn't care at all about anything except money.

He knows that, from years and years of doing it, the fanbase will be there as long as he does the bare minimum.

He relies heavily on the stupidity of the fanbase and they never fail to deliver for him.

He is clearly smarter than his fanbase.

I think maybe to an extent he doesn't listen to the fans. But he does to some level. I think the way he was on the radio a couple months ago and later in the season was directly do to the reality he was hearing the fans criticize him.

I think there is little doubt they have been more "active" in FA this year because they are trying to prove the point that they aren't total duds in FA, which was largely the criticism from fans (and the media).

At some point, Jerry is going to step up in front of the mic this offseason and pat himself on the back about their aggressiveness in FA and that will be a direct shot at the fans who he believes unfairly criticized him.

Jerry isn’t in the business of winning games, he’s in the business of making money. He’s really good at one and pathetic at the other. Will probably always be that way too. You can accept it, or torture yourself for the rest of your life. Give me door number 1.

In Jerry’s mind, there are two facets to the Dallas Cowboys. One is the business side, which seems to be the one he judges his success by. The football side continues to be run into the ground, which doesn't seem to trouble him as long as the money rolls in.

I dont think Jerry thinks about fans.

Fans are just a byproduct of his business. Later is what he is thinking about: what are the biggest influences to it and dependencies of it. Fans are for sure not.

To think he even cares about our feelings to me sounds a bit egocentric. We are not so important to think anybody does really care about that. And for sure not a billionare.

A man with the ego the size of Jerry hates to be embarrassed and is incapable of owning and correcting his own mistakes. Whatever brings him the maximum amount of embarrassment is good for the long term prospects of him and his birth certificate entitled son facing the music.

I don’t think JJ is capable of looking in the mirror and objectively owning not only his mistakes but also recognizing that HE is the problem. He has an ego-driven illness that despite his incredible business success, his election to the HOF based on his “contributions”, he literally cannot or will not admit his failures of the last three decades.

Any normal billionaire big shot owner of an NFL team has a big ego. But they also have the smarts to realize they are incapable of also running the football operations side of things to a SB. Where JJ is different is he has not only a giant ego, but also a giant delusion that HE is the real genius and architect of this team’s former success.

Really sad…really delusional.

you are about as important to Jerry as customers are to home depot.

You ll never make a difference.

JJ has changed the sport, hes gotten what hes wanted out of it.

The last step is for fans to see the truth and move on.

I think that's only because he's so accustomed to his hokey salesman's charm working and it's annoying when fans stop buying his hokey winks and grins. He takes great pride in his "Can sell ice to Eskimos" ability and it's irritating to him when people see through it.

As stated in the OP, he thinks he has done enough to be absolved of any criticism.

He has recently started to fire back in a nasty tome, while citing things like being “eons” ahead of others in ratings and merch sales. Exactly what the fans want to hear.

I’m nearly certain things are going to get much worse in this regard, especially when this team starts like 2-6 in the coming season.

The idea of winning has long left my mind. I just want to see him humiliate himself on the way out. Fully deserved.

He has heard over the years that they do not play in free agency and that it is a tool they don't use for better results.

So he goes out this year and gets mostly scrubs in free agency and when it does not work, he will say I told you so free agency does not work and he can go back and do what he has always done.

I find a lot of credibility in what you’re saying. Having two off-seasons with nothing to show for it has not go unnoticed by fans and we saw the backlash last season with poor training camp attendance and season ticket holder dumping their tickets. We have also seen an increasing larger opposing fanbase at our home games which will get worse this season. Every fan has a breaking point, and I reached mine halfway into the Romo era (because of Jerry, not Romo).

I think we’re seeing a declining, bitter, old man continuing to descend into madness and as you said, Jerry really seems to be taking it out on the fans. I think leaving the curtains open at home games to blind our own players is just ridiculous. Denying a player to wear #0 because that’s Rowdy’s number is just as absurd.

Jerry is so out of touch, he didn’t even know the Philly fans were ridiculing him last season when they said how much they love him.

It’s broken, dysfunctional, and there’s no end in sight short of Jerry selling the team.

I have loved the Cowboys since birth and I grew up in the Landry Staubach era and I will always love the Cowboys. Sadly, it never had to be this way but Jerry does what Jerry does.

I’ll take solace in my great Cowboys memories, my signed Mel Renfro picture, and my most prized possession my Super Bowl X (1st Super Bowl vs Steelers) official program with my dad’s note “Love, Dad”.

Maybe if they would improve the team and show the fans better results, it might be different. They continuously take one step forward and two steps backwards.
