I Think My Optimism May Be Running Amok

First games of the season are always a little crazy, 'cause everyone is getting back in the saddle. Preseason playing never compensates for that. Cleveland should be an okay draw, but the score might go higher than we'd like.

I think we drop one of the first eight just on general principles, bad luck, and propitiation of the powers that be. Still be a nice run though. Certainly got my fingers crossed, and popcorn simmering....

1. @ Cleveland - win. cowboyrock said we would lose. Case closed.
2. vs. Philadelphia - win. The Eagles will not be prepared for us this early.
3. @ Green Bay - win. Aaron Rodgers will be running for his life.
4. vs. Washington - win. Jim Zorn. 'nuff said.
5. vs. Cincinatti - win, if Chad "The player formerly known as Johnson" is sidelined.
6. @ Arizona - win. Not mature enough yet to beat the Cowboys and their fans at home.
7. @ St. Louis - win, unless Steven Jackson runs wild.
8. vs. Tampa Bay - win. Garcia is to old and sucks.
9. @ New York - win. Revenge factor.
10. bye week
11. @ Washington - win. Closer game than Week 4.
12. vs. San Francisco - win. Blowout following tough game in DC
13. vs. Seattle - win. Holmgren is about to retire he really don't care anymore they in aut pilot right now
14. @ Pittsburgh - win. close game but Defense secures this win to much pressure for Roethlsiberger
15. vs. New York - win. Another sweep, but the media begins the postseason speculation big time.
16. vs. Baltimore - win. Dallas tries to finish December strong for once.
17. @ Philadelphia - win. *** da IGGLES

and over the next 4 months, ANYTHING can happen. DB4L, you know that every year some team(s) comes out of nowhere to surprise everyone and 2 or 3 will inevitably disappoint.

God, please don't let us fall in the latter. I hope everything goes according to 'plan' but there's a little book by Steinbeck that tells us about that.

Even if those team spring up in the NFC the most they go is 8-8 or 9-7. NFC isn't like the AFC were 10-6 don't get into the play offs. I don't think there's any surprise teams in the NFC.

By the way, we better win a lot at the start, look at the end:

13. vs. Seattle
14. @ Pittsburgh
15. vs. New York
16. vs. Baltimore
17. @ Philadelphia

That's quite a tune up for the playoffs, to say the least.
My exact thoughts. If we fade again this place will not look at the schedule, they will just lose it.

The Patriots came very, very close last season, but I'll tell you what I've told everyone since the '90's CBA went into effect and watered down the league.

No team will ever go undefeated in the current era of the NFL. Not even the Cowboys. I'll keep saying it until it's either proven otherwise or I'm pushing up daisies (DON'T EVEN TRY IT BOB SACAMANO  ;) ). The map won't change. It's still Perfectville. Population 1.

With that said, lose during the regular season and go undefeated in the postseason. Ain't nothing wrong with that.

No homering out for me until this team shows some mettle post Dec. 1st.

The fallacy of predicting season records by reviewing your weekly opponent list is that the schedule doesn't tell you when "any given Sunday" will occur.

I firmly believe the Cowboys will finish higher than the Browns when the 2008 season is complete. But that doesn't mean that I believe we'd beat them 100 out of 100 times in that same season.

I think we got swept by the (7-9?) Skins in 1993 even though we won the division & the SB that year.

Man I think we the only team that can do it. We will do it with class also. I think the Pat's would have won but they we're pretty disrespectful running up the score & the whole spygate mess. I don't think the NFL wanted them to win that would have put a negative spot light on the NFL. Besides the Pats seemed like communist last year.

By then it isn't homering out. It's a done deal.

I think our toughest game in the first 8 is @ Green Bay where we have enver won. I have no faith in Aaron Rodgers. I predicted he'd not make it past us as the starter before an injury sidelines him. It could happen against Minny with that pass rush.

Both hard games. I think Philly will be the main contender with Dallas for the division this year. Too many people overlooking them.

not really, some media people have philly winning the division. personally i think the mcnabb era is over and done for but what do i know?

It's a pretty common problem in men your age. I wouldn't be too worried.

I could see us going 16-0.

Well then we have at least 1 thing in common. I hope we're both right and everything goes according to plan. ;)

Only if we trade for a #2 WR so Crayton is the slot guy.

we went undefeated against the NFC east in the the first half of the season last year.

As you have told us over and over Jerry Jones and company have done a horrible job and our picks are busts so that could not happen this year. Correct?

In fact I'm starting to believe you. We will be lucky to win 6 games based on your preseason posts.
;)
