I think the plan is

I really hope you are right and Free can play the position well.

Well, if he can't, it'll give the haters something to complain about. So, everyone wins.

I think you guys are forgetting a few players

Mike Hamlin is a big one.,

Only issue I see is him moving from SS to FS, but as a younger guy playing in the ACC it shouldn't be an issue.

I just think we should go ahead and take our best bet at OL while we can. We're short on depth, and this draft class isn't as deep on OL as it is safety, we'll be able to find a suitable safety to compete for the job in the second, even third maybe later. Although it would be best to get Allen or Burnett in the second, which is what I'm thinking and hoping is going to happen.

I think you are probably a lot closer to right than you know.

Don't count out McCourty in round 1 though.

I think alot of fans around here are under-selling McCourty. I think he goes in the early 20's. Cowboys might have to trade up to get him. Very high character. Good Bloodlines. Cornerback/ Return Man..He's going to be in high demand, and is rising on some national draft boards.

I just think we should address our needs at CB later, and take what we can get now for the positions that are vacant and lacking depth. I'm not sure how I'd feel about drafting a corner and trying to transfer him to safety, no matter how good he is as a corner. We have Jenkins, Newman (for the moment) and Scandrick is looking promising as it is. I think we should go ahead and take what we can get, a solid, true safety and future starter at OL. There will always be a good corner we can take in next years draft if we're really looking for one, and who knows what free agency will look like come 2011.

Go ahead and pencil in Free and Ball as the starters, draft Iupati or Pouncey in the first, Allen or Burnett in the second and let them battle it out in training camp. We could have a few rookies starting for us next year. What do you think?

Unlike much of what we read, this sounds reasonable and logical. Iupati and Allen would be phenomenal 1st 2 picks. Unfortunately, I think Iupati will be gone before our first and Allen gone before our 2nd. Pouncey and Burnett would be solid where we are picking. I'm hoping we come away with Pouncey (I just don't see Iupati making it to us) and Allen - even we have to move up a little to get him in the second.

After yesterday's cuts I'm even more anxious for this draft to get here. Hurry up!

Couldn't agree more.

I think they see Bigg as the backup LT, in which case Pouncey would be the logical pick.

I think Hamlin would start over Ball, but i also think we will try to make a run at Thomas or Dez in the first round. As of right now the line is good with Free taking over and Brewster being there. maybe take a lineman in second or third. JMO

Good point about Brewster, especially if OT is going to be his primary position. It's easy to forget about him and Hamlin b/c they were injured last year but if those two can come back strong from their "redshirt" year that gives the front office alot more flexibility come draft time.

This is the most likely scenario at this point in my opinion unless there's an attractive offer to trade down.

Sounds good.

Why just churn the bottom of the roster. It may be costly but it may also pan out.

Flo was in decline and Hamlin was fat and happy. Maybe these young guys just need an opportunity.

False-Start Flo was not only in decline, but already made his money and even though he's an above average Tackle at his age, he's not close to being elite.

Ken Hamlin wasn't much of an upgrade, only having one good season as a starter with the Cowboys. Jerry and Wade are no doubt going to draft a high-profile Safety. The last time being Roy Williams.

I'm nervous as hell to have a rookie protecting Romo's back side. This team is built to win the Super Bowl. The Cowboy brass sure rolled the dice today.

I'm sorry but Flo wasn't doing a great job of protecting Romo's blind side either. At least 75% of Romo's scrambles are from Flozell's man. I'm sorry but he hasn't been good for at least 2 years.

So do we call this combo Free Ballin?

Hamlin was flat out BAD the last 2 seasons so....goodbye and good luck Kenny. But Flo.....makes me real nervous. Sure he was declining, but was still pretty darn good: and underrated. Free? I dunno, just too unproven at this point: yeah I know we won't know unless he gets a chance to play but this isn't college football where there are 2 or 3 high level recruits behind him. IF Free gets hurt or is ineffective: there's NOBODY to back him up right now. Sure hope we take a LT in the draft: almost have to now IMO.

Man, coming from a former CB/FS, you guys have no idea how excited I'd be to see Alan Ball get the start. He had flashes of eliteness last season when he was in for Hamlin.
