I think we should do everything possible to get DeCastro and Nicks

I think we have learned the hard way over what seems like the last decade, how important the offensive line is. If we get these two guys, I believe we will go from below average to dominant with atleast 4 of the 5 guys being very good. This would be a young offensive line that could gel together for a LONG time. It's much easier to find skill players throughout the years then it is OL. If we can get DeCastro in the first round and sign Nicks, then that gives us 6 rounds to go all out defense. I believe this is the smartest plan of action for us. You?

We do everything possible to draft guys that can play and not overpay

I'm totally on board with this. This offense would be something truly special with that OL and skill position players.

Nicks and DeCastro would rewrite the Dallas offense...

I agree.

Getting these two at the G positions, along with flopping Smith and Free, makes this offensive line instantly much better.

and put Killer in at C and flip Smith and Free.

Do that and the O line becomes WORLDS better

If the Cowboys land Nicks in free agency, they should look to trade down in the first round and draft Peter Konz. Here's my rationale in the form of a question:

Would you would rather the weakest link on the offensive line be a guard or a center? I vote guard. Nicks and DeCastro would give the Cowboys tremendous potential at guard, but center would be the weakest position on the line.

Having said that, I would be absolutely ecstatic if the Cowboys managed to get both Nicks and DeCastro.

If we were to get a top FA OG like Nicks, plus DeCastro, I'd also love to pick up a decent Center in the 3rd or 4th and just finish the OL once and for all.

We could use a 2nd on a CB and either the 3rd/4th on the DL or LB. In FA, get the other Safety position figured out, bring in 1 vet ILB to replace B James/Brooking, and get 1 quality CB. I think we'll end up re-signing Spencer anyway, to the rueage of many.

At least our offense should be dominant behind an OL like that . . . .

That would only cost a trade up in the second, probably.

I think a free agent corner and safety would be the route to go. That puts a need to resign Robinson, and Spencer.

Holland could be retained going into the draft, as insurance in that scene.

Flipping Tyron and Doug is a prerequisite, especially now that Smith has a year under his belt. Free simply does not have the lateral movement as a permanent left tackle. He tries to compensate by getting out of his stance as quickly as possible to block, but all it does is result in false start penalties.

Protecting Romo's blindside is paramount and the best option to take care of it is already on the roster. Free can maul the opposition at right tackle. Let's get that interior line solidified.

We gotta play to our strengths. Right now, our offense is closer to being elite then our defense is to being good. It will take so little to make this offense elite which is why we should go for it.

The problems on the OL are so pronounced that they make people forget that the offense has other needs too, such as TE (assuming Bennett is gone) and RB.

RB? Were more than fine there. As far as tight end, I'm not worried about that at all Wittens so durable

+2. I think this would be a HUGE move for the offense. Flip Free and Smith and we have the makings of a very very good offensive line. Add Callahan to the mix; who is willing to allow players to do what they do best - per the quote from an offensive lineman that I really respect - Damien Woody. Woody stated that when he was with the Jets Callahan allowed them to run both man and zone blocking schemes; couple that with what I hope is some sprinkles of the WCO and all of a sudden we become a multiple offense in both the pass and run game. If they can pull this off; the ability to predict the tendencies of the offense diminish and we could become a very explosive bunch. I think we have the skills positions needed; we now need the line to become an source of achievement and not one that handicaps the offensive play calling.

I would also allow, Costa, Nagy Kalwoski (sp) and Arkin to compete for the starting Center spot. I'm not sure Arkin has ever played center; but the OTA's would be a great starting point.

I have no insider information; but I really like Arkin. I really hope that Callahan can develop this guy. This is not Madden - so I'm not expecting a plug and play; but I would hope that every stone is turned over to develop this guy to get him on the field this upcoming season. I want the best 5 on the field and based on Arkin's nasty disposition; his work ethic and the raw tools he has, the OTA's and the work of the strength coach (Wocik sp) I really hope they get Arkin on the field.

then how would our defense look, who will be our CBs, OLBs, and safeties.

I would love to have Nicks and DeCastro as much as the next guy but you can't forget about the defense.

Is Nicks for sure going to become a FA or are the Saints going to franchise him?

Not sure if srs. We get Murray back who was an elite back in 2011 and we still have an elite tight end in Witten.

Arkin played center in college, he actually has played all the positions on the OL.
Nagy was also the backup to Konz at Center in Wisconsin.
We have 4 players on this roster that can play Center.
