I think we've done well not overpaying in free agency this year

I just don't know the difference between Jerry being smart and letting players come down to real value or Jerry just not actually going to do anything.

Many of the free agents I want are still out there, so here is to hoping that we get to sign some of them.

Offense
FB - Jerald Sowell
WR - Keyshawn Johnson, Terrell Owens/Javon Walker(trade)
T - Tom Ashworth
G - Stephen Neal (assuming that we release Larry Allen, we could probably pay for both Ashworth and Neal with his salary alone)

Defense
Free Safety - Chris Hope (really won't be back to pittsburgh now)
OLB - Willie McGinest

Special Teams
Kicker - Adam Vinatieri

Our offensive line would be really young, and should be pretty good...

Adams (upgrade) - Neal (shouldn't be a huge downgrade, and there is upside) - Johnson (should be better/stronger this year) - Rivera (healthier, but older) - Ashworth (upgrade)

Adams (M) - Neal (y) - Johnson (y) - Rivera (O) - Ashworth (y)
Rogers (y) - Kosier (y) - Gurode (y) - Peterman (y) - Kosier/Petitti (y)

The only old players on the line would be rivera, and somewhat Adams.

The only old players on the skills offensive positions would be bledsoe, glenn, and keyshawn/Owens.

there wouldn't be much age on defense either. Just McGinest and Ferguson.

If we land a kicker, Willie, Sowell...I would feel a little better. I really like some of the OLB's in the draft, but with so many needs and not enough quality FA's to fill them we will be forced to draft for position...

Has anybody added up what we've SAVED (by releasing folks) versus what we've paid out so far?

Have we actually INCREASED our cap money? Or spent just a tad?
