I thought Conner looked decent last night

I thought Conner looked decent last night didn’t see any glaring mistakes, but looking at his base compared to the other lineman is scary that boy has got some chicken legs. He was standing next to Fleming walking to the line and it was really noticeable. I know he has a lot of upper body power but I hope he can hold up to the pounding of DTs.

That sack and the scramble by Dak were glaring. May not have been mistakes but glaring because he got beat badly

It's a safe bet that the team's staff will make it a point to expect LVE to dedicate himself to strength training.

In fact, he's always been a hard worker and one who's strongly inclined to practice diligently in that pursuit.

I expect that Conner might add a significant amount of bulk and solid muscle to his benefit in the next year.

He's a rookie man... People trashing him for the sack need to relax. First start against a #1 defense.. I won't be worried unless he looks like Chaz Green in pre-season game 3.... Chaz looks like Chaz in year 4 game 80..... Williams has a lot of time to improve. LOL

he got blasted early then settled in. I am also surprised at his lack of bulk. But they say he takes to coaching and is in good shape. Just matter of adding strength, weight & experience. His technique is too good to fail I just think he is year away.

His size is a red herring. He was at a pretty big college program. He's not going to add too much size. Ten pounds at most.

Williams is here because of technique. He's fine at his size with great technique. Better with the extra 10 pounds but he's never going to be 320.

He got beat on a good move by a really good DT - that's how 99% of the rookies in this league learn. Folks are spoiled by Zack who came in as about the best rookie G this league has seen in years
I agree. That doesn't change the fact that it happened. He did not look good I'm that game. Do I think its a sign that he is going to be bad? No I think he is going to be a great player. But he did not look good in this game.

You didn’t see any glaring mistakes?
Seriously?
Are offensive linemen supposed to give up sacks on plays where they barely slowed the defender down?

Anyone who thinks Connor looked decent is choosing to lie to themselves.

Now it was just a few series in his first preseason game so he may end up all pro for all we know.
But let’s not lie to ourselves about how he struggled out there.

Context. Saying Connor or LVE didn’t look good doesn’t mean they are being written off as busts, just like saying Gallup looked good doesn’t mean he is going to the Hall of Fame. We can only comment on what we have seen so far.

He settled in finally but got beaten bad early. Gave up a sack quickly against a very good pro player. Then I think a pressure. But he steadied. Not the opening night I was hoping for. I have been spoiled by our stud monsters.

He looks really small. Looks like TE lining up at guard.
His number is funny. Looks like a LB line up amongst monsters, maybe if they give him a number in the 70s he will look bigger. He is 6 foot 5 and 300 pounds.

He's not a guy that wins with power, at least not yet.

During the season, he's going to make his money on the move and of course he'll continue to get stronger.

I thought he played just fine for his first meaningful NFL experience.

The good news is he's got a great work ethic, so he'll only get better.

To be fair buckner is a good pass rusher. On the pressure play Dak took off anyways for a big gain. Even on the sack Dak looked to have room to step up if he felt the pressure, he waited.

Ha ha. Good one.

Texas had a weak S&C program while he was there.
