Take the pressure off Dak?

Dak's pressure is self inflicted.

Anybody who's plan doesn't include drafting a QB in the first 3 rounds is poo

Was going to be my point, lol @self inflicted lol. But yes at some point you MUST draft a QB and it can't be in the 7th round

I'm for any offense that doesn't revolve around Dak. Why they moved away from what worked in 2016 is beyond me.
They had too. Teams figured out how to defend the offense, as they sat on Beasley’s out routes that Linehan put in for Dak’s shelter.

But Zeke was still such a beast, they could compensate via heavy running, but when he was suspended for 6 games, we witnessed Dak and all his glory.

It’s not a rigid formula that worked in 2016, that you can just implement once again.

In 2017, Beasley was bracketed, sat on, and otherwise eliminated in the passing game. Opponenets keyed on his out-breaking routes and planted defenders accordingly. Cole Beasley saw more second-man attention than Dez Bryant last season (Dez technically appeared to get more double-teams but Cole clearly commanded more attention).

Man, Bijan can move…. So shifty in between the tackles, while running from shotgun too. That limitation is not there with Zeke these days, who would be a blocker much more in those situations for Dak or any QB throwing from shotgun.

I DON'T KNOW WHY THEY DON'T

In regards to short receivers they tend to like the bigger guys with long arms as they believes it increases the catch radius. In theory it should help a QB but with todays LB/DB hybrids being so quick it helps less than it used too.

Yeah but being able to get open, separate, and run away from someone is something we clearly lacked in 2022!!!!

correct. i'll take a smaller guy who is quick but can run good routes as long as he has good hands when the ball hits them. Being tall with long arms means nothing if you still can't get open.

Cowboys aren't going to the Super Bowl next season. So how about we aim for premium entertainment? I love me some Forty-burgers and Fifty burgers.

1. Put the tag on Tony Pollard but trade him before the season when a few teams lose their RBs to injuries in August (always happens). Save the money for other goodies. Pollard is a top-six back but he's at that age where things head south and we need to get younger at the position. That trade could net a 4th or 5th round pick for '24 and opens up cap space.

2. Load up on some Bijan Mustard in round one. I'm the first guy to say that RBs have short careers and that o-lines are more important for run game success. But this is a lightweight draft and Bijon is perhaps the best RB of the past five years. Many say he is the best pure football player in this class. I want to watch beautiful football--Bijan delivers lots of that. So productive, so spicy!

3. Cut Zeke. Give him an emotional press conference with tears and hugs. Not worth further discussion.

4. In round 3 draft one of the numerous nimble slot receivers. For now: Nathaniel Dell. Tiny little jitterbug who simply stacked up nation's #1 yards and TDs.

5. Take one of our three round five picks to double dip into one of the richest running back classes ever. Don't yet have a name.

6. Bring back Terence Steele. Steele and Tyler Smith could be the best run-blocking tackle combo in the league.

With these moves we get younger, which means more speed, resilience and we also load up cap space for a big signing or two. We take the load off Prescott. This plan leaves dry powder to further enhance the offense or stack up on D. Go Sweet. Go Spicy. Heavy on the Bijan Mustard.

I reserve the right to renounce every part of this plan in the next two months.
I think it’s a fine idea to clear out the running back room, save a ton of money, and get younger in the draft.

I agree 100%.

But I think any talk of tagging and trading Pollard is a pipe dream that should be forgotten. It would never happen.

So tag Pollard to the tune of 10 plus million so you can trade him in August for a 4th or 5th round pick.

How does this make sense? How is that pick worth more than the cap space?

I can't see too many teams in August wanting to take on that cap hit for a RB, which is fully guaranteed.
By August, there will still be plenty of FA RBs waiting for a phone call to play for the vet min or UDFA RB's trying to make a case.

A franchise tag, 1st round and a 3rd day pick on the RB position seems like a huge waste of assets considering it's not 1993 anymore.

You save 10M by trading Pollard in august. Now who exactly do you think willl be available to sign for that 10m in august? Everybody is already taken by that point. That plan doesn’t work
The cap isn't a lake but a river. It's year-after-year flow. Having cap space in August could be used one of three ways:

1-A late signing
2-A trade for a high cap player before the trade deadline
3-Opened up for 2024

Yes I’m fully aware. This team knows how to not spend money and push it forward. I’m not interested in that. I’ll keep pollard

If you draft Bijan you don't tag Pollard it's one or the other IMO. I don't know much about this draft but we need line help and CB depth and a QB so those would be where I'm looking.
I'm taking the risk with this plan that Pollard would still have some trade value at $10 mil per year.

Tag then trade has been a thing in the league.

Just spit-balling right now, but that's my current thought.
