I Wanna Go Mach 2

You're suggesting that teams in the top 10 are going to pass on Nick Fairly in order to draft Smith ?
I would. I'm not interested in the next Fat Albert. The guy is very good, but also very lazy. He knew he was going to enter the draft this season, so he actually got off his lazy butt and played.

Alot of teams outside of the top 10 would love to get their hands on Tyron Smith, if he falls to them. Detroit, Jacksonville, maybe New England, definitely New York. The question is which one of them would be willing to trade up and make him a top 10 pick as you suggest ?
I don't know, lets see what happens. Patriots already make it clear that they are interested in moving up.

Drafting one every year doesn't make sense. You need to showcase the prospect before you can fleece anybody and you're not going to be developing anybody if you're bringing in a new QB every year to the roster. There's not enough time or snaps. Now, every 2 years or so, then it makes more sense. I wouldn't even wait until the 7th round. That doesn't mean they shouldn't be signing undrafted FA and keep trying their luck, but in terms of " drafting " one, I'd hold off on that for now.

Kitna's replacement will be another veteran down the line IF you want the Cowboys to follow your trade suggestion, which would mean trading Stephen McGee.
Read it again. I said every OTHER year.

I would trade McGee if someone felt he had developed into a serviceable option.

To those who don't like Solder...the Cowboys do not agree with you.

I'm not sure if the Cowboys are experts in picking Oline IMO Hos. When is the last time we took one that early? Outside of Gurode and Free when was the last time we took one and it really worked out?

Solder is just too tall IMO. I know he is an athletic freak, but Trent Cole, Orakpo, and Osi will eat this kid up. No thank you! He has NO bend in those knees and I can't see him changing when he turns pro.

I'll take their scouting abilities over the fans on this forum.

OOPPsss.. read that wrong.. my bad..

I'd trade him right now if somebody offered a 3rd round pick and if one of this teams who need a QB for the future doesn't like this crop, I would be on the phone with the Cowboys right now.

I've already suggested to a couple of friends of mine who are Titans fans that the Titans should be talking to Dallas about him. If they can't get their hands on either Gabbert or Newton ( or miss out on Kolb ), trade their 3rd for McGee, bring in Collins for another year and ease up McGee during the season. I think he'd be perfect for them long term. They wouldn't have to wait as long because he's already ahead of the curb. All he needs is more playing time to develop properly.

Ok, first of all the Vikings aren't drafting a tackle wether -

sorry got to disagree with you

12 Minn – LT- B McKinnie – 31 – BU – T Welch – 23 Definitely
RT - Phil Liadholt – 25 BU –P Brown – 24

it be the perfect time to draft a LT or a RT

Mckinnie is getting up there an Loadholt not to sure they are high on him

Teams that could possibly take T Smith

6 Ariz – LT: Jeremy Bridges - I could see them making a move for T Smith
RT: Levi Brown

12 Minn – LT- B McKinnie – 31 – BU – T Welch – 23 Definitely
RT - Phil Liadholt – 25 BU –P Brown – 24

13 Det – LT - Jim Backus – 33 BU Tony Ugoh – 27 - Definitely
RT – Corey Hillard – 25 BU Jason Fox – 22

16 Jack – could see them taking him

Hos , most of the time I would agree with you , but when it comes to the offensive line , I have my doubts. There are a few on this forum that does a pretty good job. Well , at least as good as the scouts that are grading the line , but that`s not saying much.

well IMO if the draft Solder they are looking at another bust a OT

How is this guy the next Tony Boselli again? Nate Solder is constantly praised, yet he was easily beaten on numerous occasions in the Senior Bowl by Day 2 prospects like Sam Acho and Brooks Reed. He had some nice blocks in the running game, but overall, Solder was very unimpressive.

I don't think Nate Solder has been impressive at the Senior Bowl. But he gets a "stock up" because Mike Mayock keeps talking about Solder being the next Tony Boselli. Hopefully that's the pre-Texans Boselli.

Solder's height is going to be a problem at the next level because he doesn't have Orlando Pace's or Jonathan Ogden's elite level of agility. He struggles to bend at the knees and is often caught overextending.

here you go HOS send this to your guy in house

I say this kid has the chance of being the starting RT not to mention the LT spot as Parnell, Jermey has - NONE IMO

they should be looking at it like this - how every body else does

T Smith
Sherrod - why not have the flexibility of 2 athletic young bookends that are interchangeable?
Costanzo
Carimi

if they are looking for ANOTHER project

Derek Newton, OT, Arkansas State
Height: 6-5. Weight: 311.
Projected 40 Time: 5.11.
Combine 40 Time: 4.99.

tho I push him inside to take over for Davis or Kozier

or RT only

Jah Reid, OT, Central Florida
Height: 6-7. Weight: 327

Chris Hairston, OT, Clemson
Height: 6-6. Weight: 326.

Richard Lapham, OT, Boston College
Height: 6-8. Weight: 315.

Jarriel King, OT/G, South Carolina
Height: 6-5. Weight: 317.
Projected 40 Time: 5.04.
Combine 40 Time: 5.03.
Pro Day 40 Time: .
Benchx225: . Arm: 36 3/8.

I like Solder's upside and like him much better than Carimi. I get a young, athletic OT with upside. I can't give Hostile heat. Solder excels in space.

However, I think Smith will make it to 9, but you might sweat some. Teams will certainly look at him, with the players in the top 10 blending together.

3. Buffalo- Needs a LT and will look at him, but I don't think they will take him.

5. Arizona- They could look at him for sure. Levi Brown hasn't lived up to his top 5 pick, but that alone and other needs should give Smith a good shot to clear.

6. Cleveland- They have Joe Thomas but need a RT. They met with Smith at the combine. They probably will not take him, but you never know. It will be tough for Holmgren to pass on those two WRs, imo.

7. S.F.- They do have Joe Staley, but their head coach knows Smith well and will be aware of his big time upside at LT. They will look at him, imo. I say Smith probably clears.

9. Dallas- This is the perfect spot for Smith to come off the board, imo.

12. Minnesota- They are not happy with McKinney on or off the field. They will look at him.

13. Detroit- Needs LT bad.

I agree with you on addressing the OL . You are one of the few that really understands how bad the current line is . With that being said , I couldn`t disagree with you more on the type of linemen it would take to make the line one of the strong points of the team.

Nothing to be sorry about. If everybody in here agreed with each other, this would be a BORING place..

here's why the Vikings aren't drafting a tackle. At 31 years of age, McKinnie still has PLENTY of years left. They do have issues with him, although they've started to get over them lately, but that's with his off the field behavior ( party boat, SoBe arrest, skipping the Pro Bowl ).

They love Loadholt.. Believe me. They think he's their next McKinnie only wihtout the off the field baggage.

Pat Williams ( DT ) is 38 years old and is expected to retire. Their current best receiver is Percy Harvin and have no one else behind him ( they're going to cut Berrian, who's been a bust ). Sidney Rice is hitting the FA market and he is coming off a major injury himself. Ray Edwards, too, is hitting the FA market which leaves them with no one opposite of Jarred Allen, and then there's the QB situation, although Webb gave them something to rethink about their plans for that position.

There are just too many other needs for them to go in the Tackle direction. I don't even think they're considering drafting one at all.

AZ is in a somewhat similar situation, although their need for a T is bigger than the Vikings. However, their need for a QB is bigger than anything and I suspect they'll be getting a chance to pick one of the top puppies.

I agree with you about Detroit and Jacksonville, which is why I mentioned them, but the question is would they be willing to trade up into the top 10 for him when they know ( especially Detroit ) that he's going to be there when they pick and if he's not, the other tackles will be ?
