We are getting a new stadium in 2009. So here is my idea, Have two rings.

The lower ring will be the ROH ring. This is the ring for players who are either waiting for their call to the HOF (Drew Pearson, Bob Hayes, Cornell Green, etc.) or have simply contributed greatly to the success of the Dallas Cowboys, but are not quite HOF worthy (Bill Bates, Jay Novacek, Moose Johnston, etc.)

The upper ring will be the HOF ring. Any Cowboys player, coach, management in the HOF goes on that ring. Once a player enters the HOF, if he is in the ROH, his name is moved up to the HOF ring.

IMHO....Dallas deserves to have roughly 20 members on the HOF ring and 20 more on the ROH ring. After 20 consecutive winning seasons, 8 SB appearances, so many more NFC Championship Game appearances, 5 Super Bowl wins......It is obvious this team has had a bunch of great players. You don't have the success the Cowboys have had, without great players and coaches.

BTW, one coach I wish would make the ROH is Ernie Stautner.....I know he was only an assistant coach, but he was with the team for like 2+ decades. He was one helluva coach.

Very good point.....Also wouldn't it be great if as the players are coming out onto the field, there is a bronze bust of Tom Landry with his fedora and the players touch his hat prior to coming out....What a great tradition that would be. Although the stadium would never be named after him....that would be the best way to remember him, the man who built the 'Boys.

Ya, lets dilute it to the point where we have i ROH in the restrooms.

I think you're onto something.

Several years ago I was standing at a urinal when Tony Dorsett walked up and used the one next to me. Talk about your brush with greatness!

Anyhow, each bathroom could have a bronze statue of a Cowboy great standing at a urinal. You could have your picture taken and everything.

I like the sentiment, but the number of players eligible would far surpass the circumference of the stadium IMO....or their names would be too small to read without binoculars. Fan favorites will always remain fan favorites...i.e. Bates, Dat, etc.

I think its an honor within itself to play for the Cowboys...an additional ring would be overkill IMO.

:laugh2: We can have a ring around the toilet bowls----this is where the Shante Carvers, Kavika Pittmans, Quincy Carters, etc. can all be remembered and paid tribute appropriately.

On the same note, the urinals themselves could be bronze statues of former players and coaches, and the toilets could be shaped like giant Cowboys helmets.

as big as that stadium is....we can probably get about 50+ players on a ring. the HOF ring only would have about 12 names at the moment....since the Voters seem to have their heads up ther butts and won't put Hayes, Howley, Green, Neely, Niland, Pearson, Too Tall, Martin, Waters, Harris, or Walls in......

Also, by having a lower ring...and an upper ring, it allows more room in the ROH for players who were great Cowboys, but not quite HOFers...as it is now, the HOFers, are taking up over half the spots.

I agree with everything but the additional ring of Honor, keep what we have, a statue of Landry on the outside of the stadium is all we need.

The guys most of them probably did not know anything of Landry until they became a Cowboy, they probably do not care either.

Landry built the Boys back in the 60s, 70s, and the early 80s, he has not built anything past 1988, so he cannot get credit for building these Cowboys.

The Ring of Honor is more exclusive than the Hall of Fame, and I like it that way.

Your idea sounds like the idiot Commanders who have every garbage player who ever played for them honored in their crappy worthless joke of a ring.

There's already going to be a "Dallas Cowboys Hall of Fame" as part of the complex at the new site.

Deserving players, who aren't quite of ROH status, will get all the recognition they deserve there.
