I Want To Believe In Dak

I have no emotional investment in him to put my faith in him.

There are two kinds of faith: justified and blind. The former is based on something intellectually satisfying. The latter is typically irrational and emotional, i.e., “want to believe”. Real world examples of the former is having faith that mostly everyone on the road is licensed to drive competently and not dangerously, or someone has shown signs that they can be trusted to improve or do the things required of them for some attainable goal.

Since I don’t care for the latter type of faith, those days are over for me when it comes to Dak for the former.

The point I'm making is that I don't think you can make enough good moves on the offensive side that drastically changes the one thing that ultimately determines the outcome of games and that's Dak himself.
Bingo! You nailed it. And that's why I'm not drinking the Pickens Kool aid. Dak doesn't doesn't just play poorly in the playoffs. He doesn't do well against good teams outside the division. His decline was happening before the pulled hamstring.
They were 3-5 and he wasn't playing well at all.

FRISCO, Texas — George Pickens sounds renewed, refreshed and as if he has some added bounce in his gait as he strolls off of the flight from Western Pennsylvania to set foot in North Texas, having become the newest wide receiver for the Dallas Cowboys by way of a trade with the Pittsburgh Steelers on Wednesday.

"I feel great," said the former second-round pick. "I like the mojo here. I like the swag. There's a lot of new players I've been meeting.

"[We've] got a great thing going, for sure."

It's a rare blockbuster trade for Dallas, a team that often shies away from such things, their last being to acquire Amari Cooper in 2018, but keeping in the vein of hoping to resolve a dire need at wide receiver. This time around, it's All-Pro wideout CeeDee Lamb sitting atop the throne and Pickens, who was a human highlight reel and the No. 1 target for the Steelers (ideally, anyway), understands he's brought in to create a tandem.

Mix that with an entry level QB talent Prescott started with and the picture presented above doesn't match opportunity that actually is valid here and now.

But I just can't. Dak has obviously flashed some top shelf ability at times in his career but going on 9 years in the league all he really has accomplished are some humiliating bad performances in the few playoff appearances he's made. I won't get into the horrible contract extension he received here.

The worst part is he's been injury prone and obviously regressing from an ability standpoint. In his last 8 games he's 3-5 with a 45 QBR. My point is he was never enough and he's not getting better. So is Pickens better than Cooks, yea of course he is but is he that much better that he makes that kind of difference in Dak's play? Is Tyler Booker better than Zach Martin? The point I'm making is that I don't think you can make enough good moves on the offensive side that drastically changes the one thing that ultimately determines the outcome of games and that's Dak himself. I obviously hope I am wrong but I don't think I am.

As a Tennessee fan Milton ain't it either, more upside than Rush yes but he's a Temu Dak.
Well believe in him then, don’t just want to! Stop doubting him he’s legit.

Hey please leave that negative brokeback mountain ,wet blanket throwing ,killjoy wherever he's at in silence.
And don't make me tell you how I really feel.
Oh geez too late see what you've done. Lol
just like throwing a piece of cheese out for the mouse. He slipping usually hes on of the first few posts

Unfortunately he speaks the truth. I spoke to some NFL Gms who asked to remain anonymous and they said they think Dak is done.
I don't put much faith in know it alls as I watched the effects of the last chosen leader and intensified failure...you're simply wrong.

Just posting fact...trying hard is the act displayed above by yourself to try and not address but instead insult the poster of facts in discussion.

As to source, you really don't but try to explain away with unfounded excuse.

You can end all your 'We's' here and now.
You didn't post facts, though. You posted ifs and butts about what could have been while blaming external factors for what actually was.

Now you're bickering over having that fact pointed out to you.

WoW I'm impressed 3 pages of a Dak thread and no mountaineer. He must be under the weather in west Virginia. In fact there's a few others I anticipated that's yet to show.
But here you are, whining about whining and somehow thinking you're above it all.

Why would you not get into the extension? It's more damaging to the Cowboys than the playoff loses. It's what allows Dak to continue cursing this team with performance that kill our SB dreams.

In all seriousness, what does admin think about this type of activity?
In all seriousness? I do not speak for any of the staff. In my opinion, a post or thread is a post or a thread. Some conversations are posted due to hyperactivity ( @Coogiguy03 ) but all are personal expressions. That said, I am not certain what some wish to gain out of posting the same topic that addressed the same concerns felt by them--IF they feel like they are not venting.

From a personal perspective, I post stuff about Jerry Jones ad nauseam because I am venting about his supernaturally extended, finite vision of general manager beyond himself. I do so while not seeking fellow members to agree with anything I am saying. CowboysZone is just an outlet for me to <expletive> about it.

Just my two cents.

If they had just cut bait, this offseason could have been epic.
Agreed. This feels like we are always trapped in a position where the best we could achieve any given season is 1 playoff win. I’d rather have an owner that hard commits to 2 horrible years and sell of players for picks and reemerge with crazy talent, or at minimum let’s spend a pick on a QB in the first 3 rounds of the draft at some point
