I Want To Believe In Dak

Proof is in the pudding. Greatness = consistency at the highest level on a repeated basis. You can’t learn how to be great and this is what separates the elites from the good ones. Dak is a good one who needs everything to work in order to excel. Can he be part of a SB season…sure, Dilfer did it so he can do it to but is this team has to get it done for Dak to be a part of it. So with that, I will let Dak’s track record all the way back to college speak for itself and hope for the best.
With Dilfer was playing he didn't account for the same % of cap space, as Slak does. Thus allowing the Bucs to field a killer defense.

Ah yes. The old rationalization game.

It's different when you do it, right?

lol
I think your leader is in a different thread you may want to go see what part of the team he’s bashing so you can give him a like lol!

so another mistake, on top of a previous mistake....two wrongs don't make a right.

Philly spend their first 5 picks this year on defense.
the first 3 picks in 24 was defense
4 of top 5 picks was defense in 23
3 of top 4 in 2022 was defense

they drafted DTs two years in a row and already had DTs on the team. they spend money on top FAs on defense.

yes, they added Smith. they traded for Brown. but they are focused on defense. in 2022, they were top 5 defense. they fell off in 23 and made changes. 24 they were dominant again.
they had a talented offense. but realized you can't win with offense alone.
But at the end of the day they have invested in the D and the offense around Hurts. It's kind of silly to suggest otherwise.

We had way more holes than they did this offseason so to say what we did was wrong because we should have spent all our FA dollars and top picks on defense misses the larger picture here. We needed a talent influx on both sides of the ball and reality was there was no way they could fix all of that in one offseason.

In all seriousness? I do not speak for any of the staff. In my opinion, a post or thread is a post or a thread. Some conversations are posted due to hyperactivity ( @Coogiguy03 ) but all are personal expressions. That said, I am not certain what some wish to gain out of posting the same topic that addressed the same concerns felt by them--IF they feel like they are not venting.

From a personal perspective, I post stuff about Jerry Jones ad nauseam because I am venting about his supernaturally extended, finite vision of general manager beyond himself. I do so while not seeking fellow members to agree with anything I am saying. CowboysZone is just an outlet for me to <expletive> about it.

Just my two cents.
Not speaking of anyone in particular, but there are a couple of dozen around here that insist that this isn’t the correct forum to vent over the mismanagement of a national institution by Jerry Joneses ego.

Factually that’s as wrong as it gets if the words fall within the given guidelines.

Skipping over a post one doesn’t agree with isn’t an option for some.

In the end, Jerry has what he wants…..we/they…are talking. About him. That’s good enough. Probably part of the reasoning if Pickens acts up over touches or whatever….they’ll still be talking and we can still be in the news even if we aren’t winning. I’d be shocked if that’s far off of reality.

If he can’t do it now with 3 first round OL and two #1 WR’s then he never will. I can already see the homers lining up “well who was the RB?” . Well let me tell you something! you can’t have it all when you’re the highest paid player in the league.

What's one more season?

Some could say we've been wasting our time for the last 30 years.
If they say it, they probably have. I don't say that, I still enjoy watching the games. A lot more fun when we win, but I enjoy them, either way.

Most homers won't do that. We criticize and get pissed off, too. We just don't act like idiots, lining up to cry about thing we can't change. Complain about Dak, Jerry, Micah, etc and keep coming back. Before you get upset, I'm not talking about you....only those that fit the description

As we all know, seeing and believing are two different things.

The bottom line is Prescott may be the luckiest player in NFL history to be awarded this massive contract.

He would be a backup quarterback with a lot of teams. Dak is just another quarterback not named Mahomes, Burrow, etc.

Dak definitely isn't elite. But Dak has been a perennial top 10 quarterback, he became an All-Pro and MVP candidate.

Again, let me say this again... Dak definitely isn't elite.

With that said, can you name me any other perennial top 10 quarterbacks who have become an All-Pro and MVP candidate that you consider a backup in this league besides Dak, or is he the first backup quarterback in history to do these things?

What are these quarterbacks names?

At this point all I can say is this.

Dak Prescott is the starting quarterback of the Dallas Cowboys until he isn't.

You can all cope with that in whatever manner works best for you. Good luck everyone.

I did a terrible job of asking my question.

What I was trying to ask is, from a management perspective are these threads that devolve away from football and towards ego flexing lean towards being welcome for the activity they bring in a slow time, or do they lean towards being unwelcome for the negative perception of the forum they possibly could bring?

In other words. Am I a hero for contributing to non-football activity, or a zero for contributing to the ruination of the forum? lol

And please remember, this is from a business management perspective, not a personal one!!! lol

This line of questioning is entering the realm of site rule #1. I suggest posing the same question via private message to the site administrator.

This is a great perspective and I 100% agree.
I hope with all my heart that DAk rebounds. From his injury and leads the team to some playoff success and gives us some good football to watch.

That said if for some reason he fails there's really nothing I can do about it so I'm going to take the fact that we are surrounding him with a lot of talent as a total positive for when a new franchise quarterback comes in it will give him every chance to succeed.

Adding talent is a good thing for the present and the future

"CeeDee is a super dynamic receiver, super dynamic person, player," said Pickens. "I just feel like, schematically, you won't be able to double everybody, so that'll be a great thing for me and him."

Additionally, in helping to establish an early chemistry, Pickens has not only spoken with Lamb, but also All-Pro quarterback Dak Prescott.

"[He's a] very prolific QB, and smart, at that," he said of Prescott. "I'm very glad to work with him."

You wasting your time man! 30 years of failing has turned our fanbase into the angriest and dumbest fanbase. (not all but some) and this place is littered with slow fans. they just want a change at QB to give them something else to complain about. Some of them understand that a QB need pieces and just troll. Others just lack football acumen.

if I were Jerry I wouldn't have paid Dak but as a frequent attendee of this board I love that he did. I get log on and see the those fans that have been spewing gibberish for multiple season stay mad. those folks that have made this board a negative experience for the last several years I salute our QB!!!! Hes here now next chance to bail is probably 27 or 28.

This has been a darn good offseason especially in comparison to the little skelator did last year and Im encouraged

One of the things that players appreciate about Jerry is that he is NFL comparable on contracts for his producers, until they get long toothed.

All time Cowboys TD career passes could see Dak grab the team's top slot by the end of this season and based upon previous standards. Romo currently holds the mark.

Aikman is third with 165, White had 155 for fourth with Staubach fifth with 153.

Quote by Pickens https://www.dallascowboys.com/news/...-vows-to-work-everyday-to-help-make-it-happen

"I'm gonna be working every day."

That work could lead to one of his best seasons as a pro, given he'll play opposite Lamb and in an offense driven by an All-Pro quarterback who, only one season ago, was runner-up for league MVP honors behind only Lamar Jackson. This can only help Pickens in what will be a contract year, of course, but he's "not thinking about contract talk" — a point he made sure to toss onto the table in his first interview with the media.
