Had no meaning? Ok, so let me understand you correctly. The cowboys were playing their most hated rival, and if they won, would have kept them out of the playoffs (or sothey thought). That's a lot of motivation.

At this point, with the advent of free agency and the salary cap, the rivalry is relegated largely to the fan bases.

And you erroneously presuppose the Cowboys must hate the Commanders as much the Commanders hate the Cowboys. The Cowboys use the rivalry when it fits their purposes. I doubt they have any preference for a second round opponent. The Commanders, the Bucs, the Giants--they're all the same.

So, to continue, you're saying that, since there was nothing standings-related about this game, that the cowboys didnt even try? They rolled up into the house of their greatest rival, and didnt even try?

I wouldn't say they didn't try. I would say that winning was not the primary goal for this particular game.

Because the 1-15 Dolphins were playing their last game of the season. They wanted to make a statement. Dallas was simply trying to avoid injury before the playoffs.

Dallas had nothing to play for and it'd be a completely different game at Dallas. Washington would be a huge underdog but I'd still love to see the matchup.

Other than winning the Super Bowl, I don't think it gets much better than a divisional grudge match in the playoffs.

Babe laufenberg said during the pregame and then during the game that the team saw the rain and was ready to get back on the bus during warmups.

the one thing many people are overlooking beyond the obvious is that we were missing guys that play in lots of different packages and roles.

the next time if their is a next time, watkins will be in at nickel safety not courtney brown and newman will be in the slot not alan ball.

then throw in nate jones who plays on all the special teams units, just like pat watkins and he also plays in all the odd sets for the most part and has been very good at blitzing in that dime look we use.

Lots of stuff we normally do we didnt and couldnt do tonight because the guys who do it were wearing street clothes on the bench.

Great effort from the Commanders though, there is nothing to dog them about. If they win this week and we see them again, we will have a full roster, a rowdy crowd and no excuses. Win or else.

I don't want to see anymore 'Skins fans on this board. I see and hear enough about the 'Skins in the DC area.

The only way we play Seattle is in the NFC Championship. I can't see them getting past Green Bay.
