I was confused on this

Let me get this straight. You honestly believe that while on the clock with both players on the board was the first time they had discussed what roles either of these two players could have on the Cowboys?

Seriously?

If you do understand that, then why are you confused?

Neither Jerry, Wade or Jason had ever heard of either guy.

They held up photos of each guy next to each other and Jerry loved the idea that one of them looked like the guy who was in 'Half Baked' which as we all know is Jerry's favorite movie. In the good old days Jerry and Quincy used to watch it at least once a week together.

But then Wade chimed in that the other guy looked just like Beetlejuice and that he was a huge fan of Howard Stern.

So Garrett broke the tie by yelling out 'I'm Rich Biyaaatccchhhh'!

That's the legend about how the Cowboys came to choose Felix Jones over Rashard Mendenhall in the 2008 NFL Draft.

I don't know about you guys, but I believe everything I see on TV.

Same goes for what I hear on the radio and read in the newspaper.

Maybe they discussed it be4 hand that scenario there's prob a lot scenario that they would have went over incase something happened.

It just seemed like jerry was bullying the war room because of a player he was high on....As far as it being staged or scripted or edited those are all plausable scenarios. I was just a lil confused thats all...As for as JG not being a scout he still the OC and he still would have a say in the players they draft for the offense....

I dunno about you guys, but the way I saw it was that Garrett clearly preferred Mendenhall, and Jerry just took the Razorback anyway.

Stupid Jerry.

I wanted Mendenhall originally but have gotten excited about what Jones can bring to the offense. Hearing Timlin openly call Mendenhall a puss hasnt hurt either.

Maybe they discussed it beforehand?

Holy naivete' Batman.

A team worth a billion and a half dollars, leading the pre-season Super Bowl hype, and you think they are a glorified Fantasy Draft?

I [strike]don't[/strike] mean to be condescending, but are you always this innocent of how things go in the real world?

It was discussed way before they were on the clock on who to take. Once it gets around 2-3 picks away they look at the board and see who is drafting in front of them and decide which players they feel will be there in 2-3 picks. I'm sure both rb's came up and decided that Felix was the back to go with. This is all assumptions but it makes sense.

I'm pretty sure the convo came up but like I said they prob didn't factor Mendenhall in the pic. Just like Jenkins being there I'm pretty sure they wouldn't game plan to trade up 3 picks to grab jenkins if he fell to the 25th pick.

It was obviously edited. Plus, Dallas' pick too much longer than it showed. I think they probably had Garrett talk, then other scouts talked and Skip Peete gave some input, then Jerry said we're going with Felix.

YAKUZA

Yeah that was definitely staged....They had decided they were going to take him by then anyways. Jerry wanted him because he was a razorback and he made his mind up on that months ago. At least I think so.

You don't believe they ever in their hours of preparation thought Mendenhall would be there?

Seriously?

This despite just a few years before a team that had Stephen Jackson fall right in their laps? This team and scouting department had no clue whatsoever that RBs could drop?

Would you like to buy some Real Estate? I'll give you a peach of a price for some prime beach front property.

Then you compound this silliness with the idea that they had no idea they would trade up to get Jenkins. Newsflash, Jenkins and Jones are the players we targeted all along. This is why they took Jones first, they learned the Titans were going to take him. Then they traded up because the Chargers were going to grab Jenkins. This team executed a game plan.

Oh, and as to the idea that Jerry Jones was a War room bully out to get his way, how come he allowed them to talk him out of moving up in the 2nd round to grab the WR he wanted, Limas Sweed. I've never heard of a compromising bully.

Judas Priest.

I can only guess when you focus on only one player in the draft, you expect everyone else does the same. :)

Elementary my dear Watson, elementary.

:holmes:

Mendenhall and Eddie Royal would've meant Superbowl.

But now all we have to look forward to is a huge case of RUE.

This sucks.

Clearly edited. There was actually a long pause before Jerry said "Let's go with Jones." And of course there was all the talk of Mendenhall being a wuss.
